Stan Lee decreed that Trip was still alive, so as far as I'm concerned, he is.

The Cronocoms are pretty dumb if they think Shield is their only opposition on Earth. Even if this is a different timeline from Infinity War and Endgame, the Avengers still exist, and in that case Iron Man and Captain America would still be around since phase 1 and 2 of the MCU played out exactly the same. If it is the same timeline, then there's a few hundred Asgardians - at the minimum - to deal with in addition to the Avengers and Wakanda and the sorcerers. Iron Man by himself would probably do better than Shield against them.

Ah yes, the Star Trek syndrome. The Enterprise will be the only ship in range to stop the threat, and if they fail, then the Federation will fall.

...except Starfleet is made of thousands of ships and are all over the quadrant.

Sometimes it can be justified if the ship is out in deep space months from home. It's when the Enterprise is the only ship within range of Earth that it becomes a real issue. And the Enterprise is usually the strongest ship in the Federation other than the period when the Excelsior class was introduced, so if it loses no other ship really has a chance. This is all on one planet and they're saying that if the D-team loses it's the end of humanity despite the A and B teams standing right there waiting to jump in.

If May does a Data/Yar with Robot Coulson, what will the world think?

I did think that saving May with the magic neck spray and coffin of healing was a bit much. The show is getting a touch off, now. I think they could have ended with this episode. Have a memorial for May and Coulson. Let Shield go on in its emasculated form. Just a plane and a base or two.

If the Enterprise is in deep space and months from home, that means the only thing standing between the threat and planet Earth is thousands of other Starfleet ships, several of which are the same class as the Enterprise. A good ol' fashioned dogpile isn't out of the picture.

    But I digress.

But without SHIELD several of the heroes would not be were they are: In Iron Man 1 Coulson team worked to stop Stane, IM2 SHIELD provided several of the things Tony needed to make the new arc reactor and Black Widow a SHIELD agent was very useful in saving the day, SHIELD was the organization that dug Steve up, the main reason Natasha is on the side of good is because of Clint who is with SHIELD, without SHIELD in a ripple effect there would not have BEEN the Avengers or Captain Marvel since SHIELD had some involvement with Lawson's research, a different organization would have guarded Thor's hammer one that would have chosen to kill him, they also funded the research with the Pym Particles, Wakanda would have likely stayed isolated because then no vibranium would have been used to destroy a country, etc. Start thinking about where SHIELD influenced just one event and you can see dozens of situations that would or could have gone very differently without them and how it would affect the rest of the planet.
Take SHIELD out and Tony dies of blood poisoning, Steve stays in the ice, Banner stays in hiding, Natasha is likely killed or works only for herself, who knows what Clint would have ended up without SHIELD since we don't know his past, Loki kills Odin and takes over Asgard, the Avengers would have never been formed so Loki/Thanos' conquest of Earth in 2012 would have likely worked in their favor, Wakanda would have likely stayed isolated making it easy for any invasion to take over the rest of the world and destroy Wakanda in a war of attrition or using a bio-weapon, and the sorcerers are still mortal and bullet to the back of the head of an unsuspecting sorcerer would kill them.
Ripple effect and seeing how events, people, and organizations are connected is really helpful and seeing why the Cronocoms would want to take SHIELD out in the past the several of the things that needed to happen to save the world would have never happened.

Wow, I really dug the way Sarge looked when his skin got all quaked apart!

I thought it was cool that May could be alive on one side but going back would've meant her death. If this were the series finale, I'd be fine with Coulson being dead and then May's sacrifice. We need them for the last season, though. I don't know how they will do LMD-Coulson. Will he be immortal? Will there be a romance with May? Lots to explore next season.

Without SHIELD, Loki/Thanos' conquest of Earth could've ended with that nuke.

Well since the WSC only seems to exist to have oversight over SHIELD: No SHIELD=No WSC to order the nuke from the SHIELD Hellicarrier which also wouldn't exist. Even if an American pilot was given permission to drop a nuke onto an American city where would it have been sent from every military base NY that ever existed is either closed, transferred to another branch of the military and therefore likely wouldn't have fighter jets let alone nukes or converted to civilian use years earlier and the nearest base that could have sent it would be in New Jersey, so in the time that it would take to get authorization and find a base with a nuke that is a lot of time the Thanos' army has to destroy NYC and possibly spread. And even if the nuke did get to New York remember the device that was emitting the beam that opened the portal had a force field around it that only somthing connected to another Infinity Stone could get through and with no one to manually take the nuke through the portal only the city would be destroyed but the portal would most likely remain since the device is heavely protected from physical damage and blasting through rubble would be no problem if it can create a wormhole.

Well, I can see no effort will be made to keep the dialogue period-accurate. Sigh.

I'm confused. What happened with Simmons and the Cronocoms?

She and Fitz took Enoch up on his offer of help... including access to Chronicom technology... but their lives would be altered forever in some unspecified way. May have something to do with the time travel, and it may have something to do with why Fitz is separated from the others. They don't seem distressed enough for that separation to be permanent, though.
