    LOL. I saw The Sting and the other movies I mentioned sometime after their first runs, as there were a lot of repertory cinemas in my area that showed movies a year or so after their initial release. I probably didn't understand a lot of these movies either at the time.
    Re The Sting, I admit it took me awhile before I appreciated Robert Shaw (a really fine actor); I was too bedazzled by Redford and Newman.

    Many of you probably already know this, but the Perez cover I posted was based on an interior page by Byrne; the story goes that ed-in-chief Shooter liked Byrne's image so much he asked cover artist Perez to replicate it for the cover. Here are the two side by side. If I had to choose I'd go with Byrne's, but I do get a kick out of T'Challa's eyes in Perez's.

    I seem to remember seeing The Sting in its original release during a snowy afternoon at the Bellevue Theatre on Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair, NJ.
    (That theater closed back in 2017, but I believe a group is still working to bring it back. Not sure the latest status of that, though.)
