Another sweet 90's trading card:
It amused me that Luornu Durgo had a crush on Superboy, but she was also attracted to Chuck Taine. Ultimately she chose Chuck over Clark and married her Bouncing Boy. I was proud of Chuck that he could win the heart of Duo Damsel away from the Boy of Steel.
Wonder Woman! I'm definitely on that ship and have been on it since action comics #500 which came out in 1988 when I was 6 years old.
If I were Superman it'd be Wonder Woman.

I often wonder how attracted to Maxima Superman should be. To some extent, I think it's kind of amusing when she's into him like a female character in the Timmverse is attracted to Batman (...), but that can only go so far.
If he helped her become a much better person with his example, and if she's a character with a great personality and great beauty (duh), I can see Superman feeling attracted to her but not for very long haha. Maybe she wants more justice to her people, and Superman admires that.
Perhaps, although I would prefer she remains an alien (a ruler maybe still) who comes to Earth seeking a mate/consort "worthy of her" and who ruthlessly pursues Superman yet is perplexed by his devotion to protecting those weaker. Over time and exposure to Superman's ideals, her outlook slowly changes.
"So you've come to the end now alive but dead inside."
Maxima reminds me of Princess Jena of Adoria, the space-Amazon who abducted Clark Kent to make Superman her sixth husband--in "The Captive of the Amazons," ACTION COMICS No. 266 (July 1960).
Game of Thrones meets Star Wars.
I'd use the original version of Maxima (the one who's Clark's age) but also bring in her New52 version (from Supergirl) as Maxima the Younger; daughter to Maxima the queen. I'd also introduce a brother (not my idea, stealing that from someone else), and have Maxima marry Vartox, joining their two empires together.
So you've got the stoic, vengeful queen who's trying to do right by her empire but is still a spoiled pain in the ass, the new husband who acts like he stumbled out of a 70's porn, the heir apparent who's gay and therefore struggling with her responsibilities to "breed a worthy heir" and the brother, who's probably there just to stir the pot.
I think that's got enough for quality narratives on its own, but then you gotta bring in the royal advisers and servants, threats to the throne, diplomatic issues with other galactic powers......I'm pretty sure I could knock out 3-5 years of Superman stories just with Almerac and Maxima alone.
