Did this official name change actually happen? I think it was done in the Nightwing title, but I'm not sure if its official, for real, stone tablet, DC approved?

This Ric hysteria is fucking ridiculous. It's a story, it will end; I'm so goddamn tired of people crying about this Ric storyline. I don't even like Dick Grayson all that much and even I know this isn't gonna last. If you don't like it STOP READING and pick it back up when it's over. Jesus fucking Christ! **** like this is why comic book fans are the worst fandom.
Sorry to the OP, you were just asking a question but man I'm just tired of hearing about this Ric nonsense.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki
also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

The “Ric" name will never stick, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Quite frankly any chance it might have had went out the window thanks to the terrible story that has accompanied it and the laugable performance of everyone evolved with it. Producing maybe the worst run in the character’s history. Among the comic community ‘Ric’ will live on in mockery.
Of course it will end. Everyone knows that, outside people that have no knowledge of what the Ric story is, but that doesn't mean this isn't still the worst Dick Grayson story the character has ever been throw into. It is one of the most poorly managed and written stories I have ever seen and it is still continuing on because management is forcing it to because of King's dumb Batman story. These are the kinds of stories fans SHOULD yell out against because it is so insulting to the people that have actually bothered to spend money on this and shows such little care or thought put into it. I really don't get why anyone would try and defend this.
Here is the thing... You admittedly don't care much for the character, yet seeing his fans bemoan his current storyline so many times is upsetting enough for you that you felt the need to enter a thread about him and complain... You could have simply avoided this thread and any other that is about him if it is that much of a bother, you know, the whole "if it bothers you so much, don't read it" thing...
But that is easier said than done... And in the case of his fans, well, they want to READ about the character as they love him and his on-going is the one place they should be able to, and they are being denied that, so it is of course extremely upsetting and they complain about it.When you really love a character, no matter how terrible he is written, it is hard to not read about him or at the very least not be checking up on him to see where his story is going, and learning about its current stage is frustrating. Where else are they to talk about all that if not in a forum like this? Also, if I am unhappy about something DC is doing/producing I have every right to complain and demand they improve. I am not going to pretend the storyline is great or what they are doing to the character isn't atrocious or just ignore it keeping silent...
This made me wonder though... Because I haven't done a yearly subscription to a comic book for over a decade now, so I am not familiar with the terms of that commitment.. If I had a yearly subscription to Nightwing, was DC going to let me cancel it and refund me for the rest of it if I decided to cancel it when they turned him into Ric or were they going to force me to choose another title till the end of that yearly subscription? I have a feeling I would be forced to see that subscription to the end of its term, and only allowed to switch between books...

Nope.. his name is forever changed to Ric now. No chance of Dick coming back....just like there's no chance of Superman's red shorts coming back! Oh, wait a minute....
Of course his name change won't be permanent. It's a part of a story.
It's funny, the chances of a 20-something person going by "Dick" in this day and age is almost ZERO. My name is Rick as well. I've never once considered going by "Dick". I'm 48 years old and have never known anyone with the name Richard choosing to go by Dick, unless they are considerably older than I am. It's just a name that over the decades has lost it's appeal (I'm guessing because it's so familiarly used as a name for the male anatomy). For someone in this day and age to be in their 20's and going by the name Dick, I'm sure it would garner a giggle from someone every time it was said. Regardless... he's a character that's been around since the 40's and that name will be his for as long as the character is being written.
Most people have stopped reading it. And yes we are aware it's just a story and won't last forever. But if Dick is someone's favorite character, then of course what's currently going on with him will be a topic. And people can talk about it however they want to. Just because that bothers you doesn't mean others have to conform to what you want, although I do apologize that it gets your panties in such a bunch. I would offer that same nice advice you gave, if it bothers you that much then STOP READING threads about him.
And fans discussing why their favorite title sucks and the problems it's having isn't the worst thing about comic fans. I can think of quite a few other reasons why we're the worst
In fact, I guess we could say...let us fans discuss and even "lament", if we must, here on this thread....and don't be such a.......Rick!
