In the 00's Emma Frost took her place, and it's seen in all Marvel's big events. Scott, Emma and Logan were the mutants spokespeople in House of M, Civil War, World War Hulk, Secret Invasion, etc.
When Storm had the opportunity to lead the X-men once again, it was in the disastrous M-Pox storyline.
yeah but thats all really since the 00s and around when Claremont left the second time. In the 90s, she was still leader (as seen with her Gold squad). She and Scott shared the role for a while, but he was written out of the books around 1997 and she was the undisputed leader then. X-treme and later Uncanny kept her relevant, in spite of Scott and Emma's reign and its really when she left to get married did she completely nosedive
