Romita liked everything in looser fabrics. His designs were a bit boring but his ambitions were excellent. Storm, Magneto, Emma... they rarely get physical in fights so spandex and body-hugging armors aren’t necessary.

He also liked to be very “now”, fashionably. Things that were popular at the time, he’d have his characters in. Like Kitty’s leg warmers, and Ray’s danskins.

Really digging the fanart redesign for Jean by Lucas Remoussin .
It works as an adult update of the Teen Jean look from X-Men:Blue and her solo series... it’s a happy medium of past looks.

Im liking seeing what artists do with the post O5 team using the original X-men uniform motif. Lookit Jean with the standout reverse color blocking!

Jean's is the worst of the bunch, and it's not a great bunchh.

LOVE the simplicity of Enrico Marini’s design. Even without the Phoenix symbol it’s better than most of Jean’s modern looks. Love the absence of “armor” and head gear.

Agreed. Speaking of Phoenixes, I never got why Art Adams Phoenix design for Rachel in The Classic Asgardian Wars X-Men Annual #9, never made it beyond that story. They went through the trouble of giving it a dramatic debut as her first open embracing of the Phoenix identity (she stirred the sh*t!) and then...we never see the costume again...
(Colossus’s look was also a winner, and I say that as someone who usually prefers Piotr as naked as possible)

I liked that one. Its up there with Rachel's Excalibur costume. I really haven't liked a costume since those. The Prestique one could be good to me, but leave off the cape, leave the red tattoos and give her a short spikey doo, she hasn't had something like that in a while (I mean one that stays).

Like the Revolutions one quite a bit. Most of the X-Men in that time period had cool costumes. I also like Jeans costume from X-Men:The End.

This is probably a close tie or maybe usurped its place and the originals.



All costumes were pretty great on that cover and I wish those line-ups and that era lasted longer.

Thats an odd Phoenix Jean costume for me. The arm wrappings and clunky spiked boots see like they belong on more a melee fighter than the resident telepath Jean was at that point.

All costumes were pretty great on that cover and I wish those line-ups and that era lasted longer.

Loved that costume, perfect riff on the original, keeping the same colour blocking but updated. Excellent bit of design. The beard helps, of course. Sigh. I miss the beard.

Wasn't she a brawler too ? I mean not muscle, but she had to handle herself physically, precisely because she lacked telepathy.
I liked that era it was weird.

It's too bad that when Psylocke and Phoenix swapped powers back in Revolution, Phoenix didn't get a pair of katanas or at least a gun or two. Maybe a bo staff would've been better.
