Grodd is Both super intelligent (knows a lot about cooking?) and a telepath. Could he mind-whammy Zod into messing up/Forfeiting, and just win that way?

Also he's used to dealing with Earth Animals so is probably better at cooking Cod, whereas Zod probably thinks of Kryptonian Cod and tries to cook it at a million degrees or something. ;p Because EVERYTHING on Krypton is crazy-tough.

By that logic, Zod could murder a Grodd at super speed or give him a heat vision through the retina.

Not really, kryptonians and their assorted fauna were much closer to their Earth counterparts on Krypton.

I'd actually bank on Zod here due to super senses. He can examine food cooking on the molecular level, fine tune said cooking with his heat vision, and probably has a more precise sense of taste to explore with as well.
