Default Red Hood: Outlaw #32 Preview / Discussion (Spoilers)

    Red Hood: Outlaw #32

    https://comicbook.com/dc/2019/03/13/...ood-outlaw-32/

“Prince of Gotham” part one! After months on the road, Jason Todd has returned to Gotham City! But where the Red Hood once operated as an underground criminal mastermind, Jason Todd is a businessman. Unfortunately for the Penguin, his first order of business is a hostile takeover of the Iceberg Lounge and Casino! A bold new era for Jason Todd begins, and Batman is going to be so pissed off when he finds out about it.
Out of all the Robins, Jason Todd is my favourite

Lots of things in very few pages.

Jason looks gorgeous. It was the haircut after all, it seems.
So he was legally dead. He is not anymore. And he came with the most reasonable course for the story.
So he wasn't legally adopted, it seems.
    Alfred!!
And art is darker. More hardboiled-esque. Cool.

I'm not even that far along in catching up with Jason's stories and yet this somewhat disappoints me. I think I've read too many fanfics to start off or maybe it's the blood family vs. adopted family issues I've seen every so often.

They are probably afraid of making Bruce to old by giving him two adoptive sons and a biological one at the same time.

Well, it's sort of realistic, I guess. With the current timeframe in the comics, Bruce probably didn't have enough time to go through all the red-tape and procedures for adopting him formally. As far as I know, at least here where I live, it takes at least two years to go through all of it.

And then, there is the problem with Jason's familly in current continuity. It seems like Willis was legally alive up to the short time when Jason was living with Faye. And then, letting aside the part in which Ma was his grandma (because Willis probably cut ties with her way earlier. And she was caugh and arrested, so out of the picture anyways), iirc, his mother's parents disowned Catherine, which, I guess, means that they never wanted anything to do with Jason (or didn't even get to know about it. But doubtful). I'm guessing that Willis' father was either very out of picture or dead (and he was the one from who Jason got his name, maybe).

So Jason may not have had a legal family guardian, falling the duty in Bruce's hands. But he couldn't adopt him because he did have relatives who were alive. Not for a while, and then, Jasom died, stuff happened, et cetera.

I seethe reasoning of why in current continuity based on what's being presented, but I think it just still rubs me the wrong way. Still haven't figured out the why on that one yet.

Haven't read all the text yet but Segovia draws a good Jason.

    Indeed.

It's not a very different artstyle from what we have now for regular inner pages. I didn't notice until now that it wasn't Woods (I noticed the change in style, but I though it was the contrast in the more darken inks. Shame on me).

    Another page (thanks, reddit).

    Heavy spoilers.
Also, damn, I'm so blind. Cannot believe I didn't notice all the differences in style.

Where's Alfred? I only noticed Suzie Su in the preview.

Isn't Alfred the one in the last page with the knife? Or I mistook that one too?

On the last page of the preview (Jason interviewed by Vicky Vale)? I don't even see a man with a knife.
