Default James Gunn is Back for Guardians?!

The Mouse blinked? Apparently so! I wonder if DC appearing to get its act together on the movie side of things with Wonder Woman, Aquamann and now with the positive buzz generated by Shazam and Gunn's own upcoming Suicide Squad reboot had something to do with it.

What is with comic fans and making everything DC vs Marvel lol

It seems more likely they couldn't find a single soul to direct the movie and the board of directors saw the massive loss of money that was about to happen lol

I hope he still does Suicide Squad. I want to see if there is a major tonal shift between how he handles the two properties.
    Pull List:

Marvel Comics: Venom, X-Men, Black Panther, Captain America, Eternals, Warhammer 40000.
    DC Comics: The Last God

Interesting. It appears that things were settled more or less months ago, but a lot of ink had to dry before announcement. Looks like we'll be waiting until after Suicide Squad 2 wraps, but that's understandable.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

Awesome news. They really jumped the gun(n) when they fired him the first place.

The article states that he will work on Guardians after Suicide Squad is finished. SS is coming out in 2021, so expect GotG 3 in 2022? So the overall net effect is that Guardians 3 will come out 2 years later than originally planned.

So now he has films coming for both DC and Marvel. Is it possible this controversy has actually helped his career?

Sure seems that way. Pretty gratifying to see the trolls who tried to sink his career end up completely ineffectual.

Honestly I'm doubtful that Marvel is losing too much sleep over whatever DC is doing at this point. DC has still yet to prove they can string together 2 well received movies in a row. That's not to say they might not be starting to turn things around, but marvel is still lightyears ahead of the game as far as the current movies go.

And it's nice that Gunn got rehired. Since it was his script anyways, he obviously is the most logical person to direct it. So alls well that ends well.

This was a witchhunt launched by rape supporter Mike Cernovich. And James Gunn has comprehensively won.
