All the MCU Guardians were part of the DNA team (the version the movies are based on) at some point. Adam, Moondragon, Phyla-vell, Bug, and technically Cosmo are the only ones missing from the MCU for the first DNA iteration. Unless we start counting Conquest members, too.
Then you have later additions like Jack Flag, Quasar(s), Agent Venom, Kitty Pride, Thing, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Beta Ray, Major Victory, and a couple others added later on.
I think Nebula would be the only true "outsider" Gunn added unless you count Yondu, which was an OG GOTG.
On SS ... a Batista Bane would be badass. One that is smart and the leader, etc.

Bug and a real Cosmo are the only ones on the DNA list I really want to see on screen. Oh, and Beta Ray Bill (but not as a Guardian per se)! I can take or leave Adam, Heather, and Pyhla. I got my Mantis wish already.
I had no idea about Bug. That would've been so cool!

Isn't there some right issues with Microverse characters? Maybe that's why Marvel said no.
But back to Suicide Squad ...

Isn't it based on the Ostrander run? That's why he needed Deadshot.
I'm guessing Harley will be back. If it's a reboot, that's a shame. Her recruitment into the Suicide Squad is nonsensical, even for the fictional universe. She brings nothing to the table.
Yeah I'm gonna pass on this. I don't know why but I'm not a fan of all these changes. I saw the first one and regardless of what I liked and didn't if half the cast is different my brains gonna be keying in on that constantly.
The J-man
Well, it's not unprecedented. Judi Dench reprised the role of M for Casino Royale but otherwise the movie rebooted everything else about the franchise, which also means that Dench's M met Bond for the first time twice.
Maybe he'll have Squad members like Sun-Lord and Shuttle Skunk.
The Squad itself brought nothing to the table if you stick to their in-universe premise -- a team of criminals brought together to sanction Superman. Their combined might doesn't even amount to his pinky toe.
It's a Suicide Squad. Anyone who doesn't expect it to keep changing doesn't understand the concept. The fact that any of the characters are expendable is the selling feature--we never know who's going to survive.
That's why including Harley Quinn is probably not such a good idea, because we know nothing is going to happen to her--but I can understand why they want to keep Margot Robbie as their one big star.
I would have liked to see Will Smith return as Deadshot, because his acting was quite good in the last movie, but it seems like the Gunn script is going to go much darker with the character--and maybe that doesn't fit Smith's wholesome family brand.
The only other character that ought to return is Amanda Waller--probably played again by Viola Davis. I prefer Waller to look like a Wall--big and proud--and it would be nice to have some representation of plus-sized women, but I can't argue against having an Academy Award winning actress in the mix.
The semantics game about what is a sequel and what isn't is some Hollywood fakery. Sure, MAN OF STEEL wasn't a direct sequel of SUPERMAN RETURNS and BATMAN BEGINS wasn't a direct sequel of BATMAN AND ROBIN. But WONDER WOMAN 1984 will be a sequel of WONDER WOMAN, because the first movie made the second movie possible. Likewise the second SUICIDE SQUAD is going to be a sequel, because the first movie made enough money to justify making a second one.
