Default Spider-Man: Reptilian Rage one-shot announced

    https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/03...n-comics-june/

New York, NY—March 18, 2019—With the month of June comes great power comes great responsibility in the form SPIDER-MAN: REPTILIAN RAGE #1 from writer Ralph Macchio and artist Christopher Allen, with a cover by Todd Nauck! The web-slinging one-shot brings you a brand new Spider-Man adventure, told in the mighty Marvel manner!

“Whether you know him from the comics, the films, the games, the animated series…this is a Spider-Man vs. the Lizard tale for you! The story is classic Spider-Man—and it’s peak Peter Parker,” teases editor Mark Basso. “Peter’s got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to land an internship at ESU as a high schooler…but to take it, he’s going to have to choose between helping himself as Peter or helping others as Spider-Man. It’s hardly a choice for someone with his sense of responsibility, but Ralph Macchio and Chris Allen are going to keep you guessing how he’s going to get out of this one.”

Just in time for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, don’t miss Marvel’s SPIDER-MAN: REPTILIAN RAGE one-shot, coming to comic shops this June!

Uh, okay, but...like, is there a point behind this ?

If it's meant as a movie tie-in I would've thought they'd use Mysterio as the villain.

Same writer did an Ant-Man and the Wasp comic starring Scott and Janet with Living Eraser as the villain instead of Ghost.

That's weird. Macchio's Black Panther and Thor one-shots were whatever but I actually really enjoyed the Scott and Jan one-shot.

I wonder what they mean by “peak” Peter Parker?

This is the ideal Spider-Man body. You may not like it, but this is what peak Peter Parker looks like.

Ah nice. Clearly ideal. He can go to the bathroom on the go and it practically wipes itself.

I imagine "Hard-hitting villains, trying to manage his double-life," etc. .

    Spider-Man: Homecoming?

Don’t they mean Spider-Man: Far from Home?

Whoops. Must be Marvel's mistake, because all the sites said Homecoming.

    And it came out.

    And was largely pointless.

There are some clever bits, but it's a generic high school era story that builds on earlier material (Peter doesn't learn he was accepted into ESU until ASM #28, Silvermane's men target the Lizard again in the Tablet of Time story) but has a major continuity error (the public doesn't learn that the Lizard is real until Amazing Spider-Man #44.)
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

If Nauck had done the interior art, I might have given this a shot. Without him, it's an easy pass.
