I don't blind date I make the direct market vibrate
So in regards to comiccruncher.com - the site JDW tweeted - I started looking at X-characters, and Stryfe is listed as having...ten appearances. According to the Marvel Fandom Database, Stryfe has appeared 94 times (https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Categ...5)/Appearances.
On the other hand, Comic Cruncher says Storm has appeared in 2328 issues, whereas Marvel Fandom Database has her at 1804. But breaking it down, Comic Cruncher says Storm has had 1877 main universe appearances, and 451 AU appearances https://comiccruncher.com/characters/storm. On Marvel Fandom, her AU appearances are listed separately.
So upon further inspection, the numbers aren't always that far off on each site, but Comic Cruncher's totals include AU and Marvel Fandom's doesn't.
So yeah, as others have mentioned, it is difficult to get accurate numbers. What I tried to do was just get a sense, more or less, of who'd be in the top 150 most used X-characters, from Glob to Gambit.

So, are we ignoring the fact that honey badger already have 70 appearances?
It is expected that Beast is so high because it is practically the only science guy that have the X-Men apart from Forge, whenever they need to do something scientific or medic is him.
Pretty surprised to see Iceman and Scarlet Witch so high.
I'm kinda surprised Beast is ahead of Cyclops, even if not by much.
Colossus in 8 position really shocks me. He's so discreet...
Attaboy!
So these numbers are rough, but counting only their appearances in X-related books, Namor, Quicksilver, and Wanda would drop in their rankings from the top ten to somewhere between the #50 and #90 (still in the top 100 though!):
Quicksilver (250 issues)
Wanda (200 issues)
Namor (170 issues)
Those X-Factor stints helped Pietro out!
As for Beast and Wolvie, knocking out their Avengers stints leaves them with these numbers:
Wolverine (2940)
Beast (1780)
So Hank'd drop below Storm, and, of course, Wolverine would remain in the top spot. He's the best there is at what he does - appearing in comics!
And as for Bobby and Warren, they each had around 30 appearances in the Defenders, but that doesn't make too much a difference.

I also think if the character appearance wasn't in an X-Men book, it shouldn't be counted. Namor is one of the oldest Marvel superheroes and has only recently been placed with the X-Men, relatively speaking.
