Default A Soundtrack To Read Comics To

As I'm sure many of you here do - I like to listen to music when I read. When I'm reading a comic book - I find retrowave/synthwave/dreamwave to be the perfect genre. Specifically Mitch Murder.

These are just a few of my favourites! I basically just sit down, start reading and tell Alexa to shuffle songs by Mitch Murder. It's a lovely accompaniment.

What do you guys find goes well with comic reading?

Question? Regarding that first link, (that's as far as I've gotten), how do you read with all the talking in the background? I can appreciate the music more if there was so talking.

I dont really have a soundtrack I listen to, but I do try to put some Heilung on when I'm reading Thor. Especially Aaron's God of Thunder.

For those not in the know, Heilung takes prayers, songs, stories, etc., from ancient Germanic/Slavic cultures (these pre-date vikings but everyone thinks its viking) and adapts them. They use authentic instruments (lots of bone) and costumes (lots of bone and animal skins). They're a hell of a group. Sort of like folk metal.

Depends on what I’m reading. I’m currently reading Bronze Age DC Comics from the 80’s, and I tend to listen to music from around that era. I’m listening to a lot of am radio pop, some 80’s disco, some Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb.

PROPER OLD SCHOOL! I LOVE IT!!! This would go good with a Deathstroke comic book I think!

Please, check out more Mitch Murder. You'll dig it.

Another thing I like to listen to is a Batman movie soundtrack when I'm reading Batman, a Superman soundtrack if I'm reading Superman... you get the idea.

Great thread! I find myself listening to a lot of film scores when reading my comics. Some of my favorites include Last of the Mohicans (usually with my more epic stories), Heat (another Michael Mann film!), Glory, Superman The Movie, The Dark Knight, Road to Perdition and a whole passel of others.

For me the music depends on the title. I've been going back and reading Blood Syndicate I listen to this album clad A Long Red Hot Los Angeles Summer on low in the background.

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

I prefer music without lyrics. Most of the time, I'll listen to a movie soundtrack related or similar to the title I'm reading.

Another thing I'm doing a lot, is too put YouTube on the TV, and choose an Ambiance video (I do that often for horror comic books). Here's one example:

I listen to the Batman '89/Batman Returns soundtrack if I'm reading Bronze Age Batman. Otherwise, I don't listen to music while I'm reading unless I'm trying to drown out my roommates.
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?

Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

never thought of doing this. Mind you, when I use to read 'Doctor Who: New Adventures' I would play the theme before commencing and p l at again when a p articular character a later seem like a goo cliffhanger. Sad' I know.

No Wave band DNA, "Last Live at CBGBs", very harsh, not a lot of distracting wordiness, probably a 1/2 hr of music.

Also, for something different, one of the "Hemi Sync" albums, classical music competing with a "hum/buzz" designed to get both sides of the brain working in sync.
