Default Birth of a Legend—Favorite Batcover Cover Dated Year/Month You Were Born

I did this in the Wonder Boards, so I thought I’d continue it here. Post your favorite cover that’s cover dated for the month/year you were born. It can be any book that’s bat-related, it just has to be cover dated for your birth month/year.

    Cool idea! From 1972

BTW, I actually owned the B&B with Black Canary as a young boy.

Wow! I really had a bunch of bad covers to choose from! Trust me when I say that this was the best:

Other choices were Atomic-Man's eyes turning the Batmobile into glass (Detective Comics #280) or an alien who has trapped part of Robin's life force in its tummy (World's Finest #110).

As near as I can make out, this was the one and only appearance of the villainous Sea-Fox

Wow! I really had a bunch of great covers to choose from! Trust me when I say there's nothing can beat Curt Swan and Stan Kaye! The best.

Going by on sale date, this one came out closest to my actual birthday--and the Calendar theme seems very apt. Yes Batman, I was born under the sign of the sun (Leo).

But if you want to go by cover date, this one is right on the money (July-August).

    Thank you Curt and Stan.

Not many good choices, but I like this one:
“Somewhere, in our darkest night, we made up the story of a man who will never let us down.”

Yes. As explained in the letter column at that time, Neal was doing this art piece for an acquaintance but when the staff saw it they wanted to use it for a cover. It's what you would call a symbolic cover. It has nothing to do with the story inside and Batman seems to by flying.

When this comic came out, I remember that the thing that struck me, besides the Neal Adams image, was the new title logo design. This is the first issue where it was used. I liked it because it harkened back to the classic logo.

Okay, okay. Not a comic book, but I was born in July of 1989. Not easy to find the comic itself with the film overshadowing it in such a search.

    Here it is.

Interesting thread idea! I went with "release date" per Mike's Amazing World, and between Batman and Detective comics, chose Detective Comics 570:

    October 1986
"We're the same thing, you and I. We're both lies that eventually became the truth." Lara Notsil, Star Wars: X-Wing: Solo Command, Aaron Allston
"All that is not eternal is eternally out of date." C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
"There's room in our line of work for hope, too." Stephanie Brown
