Like I said, it's not something I hold against Hickman. Cast bloat has been one of the X-Men's major foes for about 15 years now (probably since the 90's, honestly, but I feel like the whole "the school is now an actual school" era is where it most recently got ridiculous). But it does mean that if, for example, Nightcrawler is the only character showing up whose development I really care about, I'm going to think long and hard on if I want to put down my $$$ each month, trade wait and read the reviews in the meantime, or just give it a pass if the reviews make it sound like it's not to my taste.

I'm open to being grabbed by a strong enough story hook. After all, I just meant to pick up a couple of books from the AoXM event for character reasons, started reading all of them, and will probably see most of them through. But again, that's gonna depend on what info comes out ahead of the books.
