Hickman says... “I will tell you that 'we' are not telling an Alt-Universe story," and "I'm not telling story that deals with time travel.”
He puts the word we in quotes. Why? Could he be implying that what he’s writing is the main timeline and everything we’ve been reading since, say, Giant Sized X-Men is actually an alt-universe?

If it is Krakoa, it's not like there being an untold story there hasn't happened before.
It's how we got Vulcan, and he was clearly in the initial round of teaser images.
Hickman will cement mutants as Inhumans knock-offs by revealing that the X-Gene is a result of ancient Skrull experimentation to create weapons against their hated enemies, the Kree.

If you read the original interview, the interviewer used 'we' to make it sound like some theory they had was widely held, and Hickman through it back at them asking why they were using the royal we, and then followed with giving an answer using the same phrasing and quoting 'we' to show he was using it informally. There was nothing else to it.
