I agree with you. JDW’s reasoning doesn’t make sense. Adding to what you were saying, I think other characters get a pass that they were possessed, rather than blamed like Cyclops.

I know we are probably all misinterpreting this picture, it's probably Kitty just being grateful that he showed her how to have emotions and how to love people.
