Default Action Comics issue #1009 (spoilers)

Never thought I'd be so glad to hear that Sam Lane is still alive and kicking.

"Mark my words! This drill will open a hole in the universe. And that hole will become a path for those that follow after us. The dreams of those who have fallen. The hopes of those who will follow. Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix, drilling a path towards tomorrow. THAT's Tengen Toppa! THAT'S Gurren Lagann! MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT CREATES THE HEAVENS!" - The Digger

We walk on the path to Secher Nbiw. Though hard fought, we walk the Golden Path.

Thanks for the preview. I'm assuming Jon Kent is back in AC. On the bottom right corner of the first page, it shows Kelex is searching for Jor-El, not Jor-El and Jon.

Also interesting it says aka Mr. Oz. Little reminder Bendis hasn’t forgotten that aspect.

I saw that, too. I was paying more attention that it was Jor-El's name only.

I never thought we’d get Epting on a Superman book. Dang is he good.

    spoilers:
So Bendis made a point to point out that this doesn't feel like Talia's handiwork.

Safe to say that she isn't the one in charge this time or is that just supposed to be some kind of swerve?
    end of spoilers

    spoilers:
I guess someone managed to take over from her. Which makes the wholte Silencer story kind of pointless, sadly.

I'm enjoying this storyline more and more with each issue.

I mean, how can you not enjoy Clark with a beard and jewfro?

    Nice touch, Bendis, nice touch...

I like the way this one played out. It's the most Bendis of comics, but I think he's figured out how to also make that a Superman thing.

I do wish now that I finished out that Grayson run because I dunno the state of that DC corner otherwise.

He had a run back in 1999. There was a cool post Cavill once did somewhere in front of one of his comics, Superman #150.

My thoughts after reading this issue?

    YES!

I need more Chaz: Agent of Spyral in my life. This issue was on some next level sh!t, I swear.

This was a fun issue, agree it was very Bendis, but I am kinda seeing a bit of Erica Durance’s Smallville Lois in Bendis’ now. The way she was grilling Waller and then just cold cocked her was something that seemed right out of Drurance’s Lois’ playbook as well as her enthusiasm for Chaz and Andi. Curious as to where Leviathan the person is going to intersect with Leviathan the organization as well and how Spyral ties into this. And setting up the Question and Batman’s roles as well. I wonder if now Question will have a role in Rucka’s Lois Lane book since he’s keeping an eye on and will probably be looking into Sam Lane.

And Bendis wasn’t kidding when he described Chaz:

    How did spoilers:
    Lois saying 'Hi, honey'
end of spoilers not raise a Jimmy-brow at the very least?

There's a lot going on here but I do like that Kelex keeps tabs on things (or can pull info on things quickly) and Superman can access places pretty easily (although that raises other issues).

Is the Triangle-fortress is only one at the moment (I've kind of lost track lately)?

I see the Durance similarities now that you have pointed them out.

    I LOVE Clark's disguise.
