Default Where's the Spectre fit in to things nowadays?

Apologies for not following him. I see an ad with the old guy around but what's his status. Didn't see him in Dr. Manhattan Exposes Himself #9. Will there be a surprise butt kicking of Doc M as happened to the Anti-Monitor or Parallax way back when. Or is Spec. just a hollow shell and not major player anymore?

    Info appreciated.

Nowhere. Especially since the dismantling of Vertigo took down a lot of DC's informal power hierarchy with nothing to replace it with. Plus the Spectre as a property has been tapped out since Ostrander. They should have retired the character or at least Jim Corrigan.

He's suppose to be showing up in a Batman story in Detective Comics #1006.

    There's this so far...
With him having appearances in the New52 Phantom Stranger and Constantine series.

But that Detective Comics solicit makes me think they're gonna pull a Lobo or Omega Men with him and just forget the early New52 appearances.

As for who will take Spectre's place in the DC hierarchy...
My bet is on BatGod. 😀

That's the ad I saw and led to the question of his standing.

Detective Jim Corrigan has been shot on the streets of Gotham City-and the Spectre must reach out to Batman to help him find the secret assassin!

Don't forget Gotham by Midnight and Corrigan/Spectre showing up in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

I think they're hoping readers will forget.

They should want readers to forget the stupidity of the Phantom Stranger being responsible for Corrigan's death.

But Gotham by Midnight was a good series!

I think the Specter has fallen back to being that character who only occasionally shows up when DC needs to emphasize that @#$% has really hit the fan.

Doomsday Clock and whatever is up with the JSA may have some clues as well as the Detective appearance.

I take it Corrigan wasn't dead already?

Who knows how DC does these things?

(Does DC even have people who worry about minor things like "continuity" any more?
I thought they had moved to "loosey-goosey continuity" now.)

Spectre's gotten so big he can't fit into anything, barely even big boy pants.
