Is an unaltered original trilogy blu ray release to much to ask?

Fox/Disney both said never. It would dishonor Lucas' versions of the films he made. The most recent cuts of all 6, with edits and different sound cues, all came from George.

What you see is what you get.

    Maybe when he dies?

I seen something saying don't get your hopes up thinking we'll get it in the 4K release supposedly coming in 2020.

I'm looking into acquiring the OT on vhs and getting a vcr so I can watch them the way they were meant to be.

Get the laser disc versions if you can, they were fantastic.

Not so much; that's the rendition put on the DVDs as a special bonus a few years back and they were't so good.

That's because you have to alter the ratio to transfer them to dvd but the picture on the actual 1993 release is way better than the vhs version that was released at the same time and both the discs and players are readily available and inexpensive.

If they reboot the original trilogy, they would have to remake episode 7-9 again.

    Does LEGO Star Wars count?

Personally I'd love to see it, but I don't see it happening.

The OT, prequels, and ST will simply be what they are. For better or worse. For future film projects, the focus will be completely moving on from what has come to be known as the Skywalker Saga and venturing into its own thing.

It's inevitable. But probably not for another 20 years when the original fans, like myself, have largely died off.

But yes, it will definitely happen.
