FINALLY, we can have the Gibbon discourse we've always craved!

    Ain't that Lashley great?

"Gibbon isn't much of a villain, and this is the story of his experiences in the park" - Spencer at C2E2

Will this be an homage to the Johnny Guitar issue of Avengers Initiative (a book Nick is clearly fond of) that explores the story's themes or a classical Spencerian rollercoaster of wild twists? Place your bets!

Yep, Gibbon is dead. Toast. Finito. Snuffed. Sub-carbon.

    He is so dead.

Interesting to have such a big spotlight on a character JMD wrote so well in a story that follows up on JMD's most famous arc.

curious. I'd never read a story with him that bothered to give him any pathos. Well, for as long as it lasts, kudos, I suppose.
he's never murdered or maimed anyone, has he? Mainly he's been just a thief?

Gibbon is a survivor. He has been thought dead a few times only to turn up alive later. If he survives maybe he should reform an join the X-Men since he is a mutant.

These first few pages are flashing back to his first appearance. I've always felt bad for Gibbon. I have a feeling Nick Spencer is going to break a lot of hearts unexpectedly with this.

This is a sad story I remember from when I was a kid.

Never been a thief either, to my knowledge.

But then again, my Gibbon knowledge, his motivations were mostly "Beat up Spider-Man for laughing at him" or playing a hero, which he did at various points, helped defeat Beetle, Spot, Kangaroo, and White Rabbit.

His first appearance in ASM #110 & #111 certainly painted him as a sad, sympathetic figure.

As for this issue, I'm expecting a real tearjerker.
