Default Where Are You From? POLL!

I thought I'd try to narrow it down further and I love polls!

I'll start with the continent. Again, this is where you live now, not where you were born or grew up.

I think in another life I may have been born in Antarctica . . .

But, seriously, should we also consider the continent of "Zealandia"?

Central America is generally considered part of the continent of North America, not a separate continent.
As for Antarctica, I guess that's a large enough and unique enough land mass to warrant a designation as a separate continent.

Well, the whole world doesn't really agree in how many continents are there.

Here in Brasil, for instance, we use the six continents model where America (both north and south( are only one continent (conveniently named "America". ). I believe this is also true for most of central america since the majority of latin american countries use this model.

OTOH, Antartica is frequently discounted for the count on the basis of not having a population (I believe that's the reason, may be wrong, school was a long time ago).

So, it's a valid questioning: people in Central-America may feel that they are in "America", the larger-continent, and not in "North-America", the half continent where gringos live.

To do spoiler tags, use [ spoil ] at the start of the sentence and [ /spoil ] at the end, without the spaces. You're welcome!

But since Mexico is generally recognized as part of North America (for those who do the "North America" and "South America" separations), calling North America "the half continent where gringos live" sort of dismisses Mexicans.

Well, semanthics, since "where gringos live" is not the same as "where everyone is a gringo".

But the phrasing was just intended as a light jab to the tendency at dismissing Mexico as part of NA (they're part of the "Mexican countries" after all XD), not something to be taken literally.

I feel Antarctica has been severely underrepresented in this poll.

    I'd like a recount, please.

    What about Asia?

Damn... I'm 49 and maybe things have changed since I was in elementary school, but we were always taught that there were 7 continents: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Antarctica, and Australia. Has that grouping changed since the 70's??

Not being a smart@$$.....I'm genuinely curious if our kids are being taught differently now.
