could be something that comes into play later. Dark Beast is like Mystique. Cant be trusted and always as an ulterior motive.

Well, if he runs, Scott will find him. That isn't a question, that's a fact. So if he is planning something, then he needs to do it in a way that keeps Scott from being even in a position to find him.

IIRC, Mystique was part of X-Factor when they discovered regular Beast was being held captive by Dark Beast who had been impersonating regular Beast with the X-Men. They fought briefly.

They were apparently also both on the Dark X-Men team from the Dark Reign storyline.

He was also behind the conflict between the X-Men and SHIELD during Bendis' run while Mystique was impersonating Dazz at SHIELD, I don't remember if it was made explicit that they were working together.

She was intentionally pointing at Scott, maybe in the chest which would be fatal.

She had the gun pointed towards Scott as they were talking, yes. But she wasn't expected to be attacked from behind. It's clear the gun went off when Logan attacked her, not that she deliberately aimed and shot at Scott.

Not strange if you understand that Dark Beast is getting something out of this. He's not hanging around out of fear but because he's got his own agenda.

Scott was out for six days. Is it possible that Dark Beast has introduced/altered something about Scott that is actually causing the massive pain? Dark Beast had enough time to study and pull Warlock out of the New Mutants.

Way too many WTFs

Stringing us along with minimal Banshee
Hope acting odd (I don't recognise her as a Hope I've ever read)
Cyclops and Wolverine switching personalities repeatedly between panels
Taking Cyclops eye out could of been a big feat given to a villain, Hope having done it by accident is kinda lame
Minimal New Mutants
Another dupe saying "Kill me now", I'm sure I've seen this twice before
Dark Beast being trusted to play nurse is f'ing weird!!

I know Scott isn't exactly happy with them right now, but calling the Avengers or anyone else just to check him over wouldn't be a bad idea.

Not that I think this is bad writing. Scott should go to a hospital right now, but he won't because he thinks he has this under control.

Dead Souls was launched closer to The New Mutants movie original release date.
Marvel was expecting some buzz return, it's clear because of the horror theme of the book relating to the movie.
Movie delayed, no buzz, no sales, no sequel to Dead Souls.



Fits perfectly with Dark Beast.

This bit about Dark Beast is what I have been thinking. He's been messing around inside Cyclops's head, he's been fiddling with the New Mutants as well. No doubt he'll have a go at curing Banshee as well, and presumably he's been helping Hope. So he's had access to a number of X-Men, and very few people seem to be mentioning it. This has to be important.
