X-Force/X-Statix was always one of those runs that I wanted to read but simply never got around to getting it. So I don't know if this'd be a good place to jump in or if I should try to go back and get the original run first.

People were pretty sensitive to a lot of things during the days of the original comic. The atmosphere was pretty tough with things like Iraq war and Islama-phobia being huge topics for debate. There was also the controversy over the Princess issue.

I thought that there was some good media satire in the original X-Statix comics, unless I am misremembering things. Given all the references to fake news these days, I could see satire over that being pretty funny. I'm not saying that that is what we will be getting in this comic, but it would be interesting.
