Why isn it that when Pelosi has a dispute with a few young, more progressive Dems, the Party is in disarray.

But when the right wing loons in the GOP go off, like Gomert, King or the Freedom Caucus, all is still rainbows with their party?

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

It's not that any specific person is or isn't corrupt, it's the feeling that the whole system is weighted against them. And in many cases it is. That sort of thing will naturally breed fear and distrust.
I don't mean to imply that Harris is evil, just that she will have to work harder to win over people that feel let down by a system that she more personally represents than other candidates do.

It also doesn't help that she was perfectly willing to drag her feet or go to bat for some of the obvious issues while she was a part of enforcement. Never mind that she has yet to take responsibility for that she did those sorts of things.

It's not exactly like we are talking about Frank Serpico.

Edit: Which is before you even take a second to think about that this is the person taking shots at other Democrats about their records.

Partly due to how the GoP all fall in line every November.

I think it has more to do with how the media views the two Parties.

Personally I hope they strike it down too. The GOP'd be handing back the Senate on a silver plate.

I think that has a lot to do with it. GOP don't need to be galvanized. You toss them a little red meat they WILL come out and vote. They vote in all elections regularly.

Democrats need something to bring them out. They much more need a cause or something to get the numbers out.

What is the difference between supporting and voting for a racist, and being a racist? Is there a nuance I am not seeing?

Another obvious question mark about Harris and her time in enforcement...

Kamala Harris Didn’t Act for 5 Years on Policy to Help Ensure Fair Trials

Memos show the Democratic presidential candidate, advised in 2005 to adopt progressive policy as San Francisco district attorney, delayed before backtracking amid setback
Aides to Ms. Harris in 2005 recommended adopting a policy popular among progressive criminal-justice reformers to disclose past misconduct by law enforcement in order to help ensure defendants received a fair trial. At the same time, police unions, who were already critical of the novice politician, opposed such a move as invasive and unnecessary.

Ms. Harris, now a U.S. senator from California and candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, didn’t enact the policy at the time. That ended up backfiring years later in 2010, when her office’s lack of what’s known as a “Brady policy” was central in a scandal in which around 1,000 criminal cases were dismissed and a judge criticized Ms. Harris for violating defendants’ rights. She backtracked and enacted a policy in the aftermath.

In response to questions for this article, Ms. Harris released a statement. “It took too long to implement, but I am proud we implemented a Brady policy in the D.A.’s office that was later called ‘a model for other jurisdictions’ ” by the California Supreme Court, the statement said.

Her decision not to follow the suggestions of her staff—whose detailed preparations to enact a Brady policy haven’t been previously reported—sheds new light on a 15-year political career that, people who have worked with Ms. Harris say, has been marked by attempts to satisfy a liberal base’s demands that she be a “progressive prosecutor” while also securing backing from police officers.

    So...

If Harris was not technically a "Cop", she does not seem to have had any issue with stiff arming the disclosure of past misconduct by cops that would give defendants a better shot at a fair trial.

The obvious question? What Republican was stopping Harris from implementing those changes?

The Republicans were in disarray. And it got plenty of coverage.

One of the best moves for Democrats is shutting down those on the left who go too far, either in claiming that a Native American lesbian member of Congress who flipped a Kansas congressional district for the party is enabling racism, suggesting that the purpose of the Green New Deal is to change the economy rather than to solve an environmental crisis, accusing blue dogs of being segregationists, or voting against funding for the migrant crisis.

Democrats lucked into an opportunity for unity because Trump said some really stupid and racist stuff about the newcomers, so they might use this chance to hash things out privately.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

    Meanwhile, with other awful people...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said on Sunday that he has no problem keeping the migrants in the squalid cells he saw during his detention facility tour in Texas with Vice President Mike Pence.

“What I saw is a bunch of people who have been here before, broke the law before, and we’re not going to let them go,” Graham told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo. “I don’t care if they have to stay in these facilities for 400 days, we’re not going to let those men go that I saw. It would be dangerous.”

Graham, who also serves as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, claimed that “all of [the detained migrants] broke our law.”

“All of them broke our law,” Graham said. “Many of them have done it before. And we’re not going to let them go.”

And despite seeing for himself the unsanitary conditions of the two border facilities he had toured with Pence on Friday, Graham argued that “[t]his is not a concentration camp that I saw.”

“It is a facility overwhelmed,” he said.

Right -- how lucky for all of us that the Republicans nominated an unapologetic racist to lead our nation.

Many of whom would rather talk about metaphysical open borders than the outright bigotry inherent in their party.

'Economic migrants' is a term used to disparage people who travel thousands of miles to come to a safe place to work and raise their families in peace.
