Trump says he should be ‘given our stolen time back’ after release of Comey report

One way of interpreting this is that Trump wants to cancel the 2020 election.

President Trump suggested Friday that he and his supporters should be “given our stolen time back” in light of a Justice Department report that found former FBI director James B. Comey violated FBI policies regarding memos that helped spark the special counsel investigation.

It was not immediately clear what Trump meant, but in May he shared a tweet by a supporter that said he should have two years added to his term as compensation for having endured the investigation of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III into possible coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

“The disastrous IG Report on James B. Comey shows, in the strongest of terms, how unfairly I, and tens of millions of great people who support me, were treated,” Trump said in a tweet, referring to the Justice Department’s inspector general. “Our rights and liberties were illegally stripped away by this dishonest fool. We should be given our stolen time back?”
Trump retweeted Falwell and in subsequent tweets of his own wrote that “they have stolen two years of my (our) Presidency.”

Trump has also publicly mused — seemingly in a joking fashion — about extending his four-year term. Earlier this year, he brought up the idea after receiving an award at an event for the Wounded Warrior project.

“Well, this is really beautiful,” Trump said. “This will find a permanent place, at least for six years, in the Oval Office. Is that okay?”

“I was going to joke, general, and say at least for 10 or 14 years, but we would cause bedlam if I said that, so we’ll say six,” he added.

How Veterans Affairs failed to stop a pathologist who misdiagnosed 3,000 cases

ROGERS, Ark. — By the time he and his wife Sara faced Veterans Affairs medical staff across a conference table in September, Kelly Copelin had lost 75 pounds and could swallow only small pieces of solid food. Radiation therapy had blistered his throat.

This was the moment they would finally learn why their lives were so changed. Why when he went to the Fayetteville VA three years earlier with a severe earache, the biopsy came back negative — and he was given antibiotics instead of treatment for what was diagnosed 13 months later as late-stage neck and throat cancer.

The pathologist who had misdiagnosed Copelin’s diseased tissue in 2015 was intoxicated, the hospital’s chief physician told the couple. He had failed to see the squamous cell carcinoma on the slide before him, the doctor said.

“We are so sorry,” Copelin, 63, remembers him saying.
On the Fayetteville campus, rated one of VA’s best, Levy’s supervisors failed to heed early warnings that he was endangering patients and then were slow to act, according to internal VA documents, court filings and interviews with 20 congressional officials, veterans and current and former VA employees.

Federal prosecutors charged Levy, 53, last week with three counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of three veterans. VA officials now acknowledge that he botched diagnoses of at least 15 patients who later died and 15 others whose health was seriously harmed.

Texas' answer to Gun Violence, is to make it easier to carry guns in Texas into places like churches and other places fo worship. New law that goes into effect soon.

Looking at the weather maps. Way too soon to tell, but from what I can see, it's looking like Dorian will hit Florida in the vicinity of Jupiter, then head north, finally veering east and back out to sea near Jacksonville. If so, after that it might possibly either die out in the Atlantic, or pick up steam, turn back towards the coast and be a threat to the rest of the East Coast.

Let's see how close my forecast is.

Pretty soon, they’ll LITERALLY be able to say, “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!”

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, as well as 2018, that "Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day" published profiles of the U.S. House Representative from Georgia’s 10th District, Jody Hice, who prior to his election to office in 2014, we warned that Pastor Hice had already made several controversial statements, such as arguing against the existence of a separation of church and state, referring to homosexuality as bestiality, and denying acknowledging that Islam was an actual religion, so therefore, in his mind, the First Amendment of the Constitution does not apply to Muslims. While our update on Hice in 2015 was mostly a discussion of his abysmal voting record, we did pause to look at Hice's further thoughts on what he considers the “so-called separation of church and state”, calling it a “false belief", and that secular government causes increases in violence, gangs, and teen pregnancy. Hice has talked less, with the biggest focus of his power of a legislator being that he considers renaming parks after Nancy Reagan to be a higher priority to doing anything else to help the country, save for perhaps sponsoring Personhood legislation like the “Sanctity of Life Act”.

Since Donald Trump was inaugurated, Jody Hice was doing his best to provide cover for him regarding during the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, so much so that in a Fox News appearance on May 22nd, 2018, Hice called for “an investigation into the investigators because he’s just so upset that Robert Mueller and his team keep finding out all the illegal things Trump and his campaign officials were doing to try to steal away the White House.

Hice was re-elected in 2018 with 62% of the vote, enjoying the +15 Republican lean that his district has. He thus has returned to Washington to continue to rack up one of the most extreme voting records you’ll find:

It seems like Jody Hice might have annoyed members of the Republican Party establishment, as he was booted from the House Armed Services Committee in 2019 for supporting Jim Jordan and not Kevin McCarthy for their House leadership. It wouldn’t shock us in the least if he faces down a GOP Primary challenger in 2020 who might have a better idea on policy than “say ignorant and bigoted things whenever possible.”

They just like to think everyplace should be like Dodge City in the 1800's. Every problem has to solved with a gun.

I suspect that, even back in the 1800's, there wasn't nearly as much gun violence as ther is in Texas now. No automatic weapons, rarely shooting up schools, or churches, or other public gathering places.

Back then it was common practice for visitors to small towns to surrender their firearms to the local Sheriff. The idea that cowboys walked around openly carrying is a Hollywood myth.
