I haven't seen anyone say that it cannot play into how a person behaves in any way. That said, the idea that music/video games/films/whatever is a direct driver of this sort of a thing is just not realistic.

It makes an easier excuse to seek to blame other things than this. The realization that there has been a huge threat of this for years (since mid 1990's with McVeigh) clearly has many wanting to avoid what they already know in their hearts.
