BREAKING: I’ve learned that the Trump administration is suspending virtually all asylum claims processing for the regions served by the Newark and Boston offices. There are over 40,000 cases pending in those offices.

Health Care Rationing? It’s Already A Reality Here, And This Report Proves It.

Almost 18% of working-age diabetics are skipping meds because of cost. And, in some cases, those people are dying because of that onerous expense.

Jewish Leaders Blast Trump’s Accusations Of ‘Disloyalty’

His claim that Democrat-leaning Jewish Americans are ‘disloyal’ is outright anti-Semitic, the ADL says. Not to mention moronic too. I'm sure Republican leaders feel the same way, of course, they won't actually criticize Trump for what he said, they don't have the balls to do that. Meanwhile....

Donald Trump’s Last 24 Hours Have Been Particularly Stupid And Offensive And Weird

The president attacked Democratic-voting Jews, called himself “the chosen one” and got mad that Denmark won’t sell him Greenland. And the GOP remains silent about Trump's insanity. If Barack Obama said even a fraction of Trump's bullshit, Republicans would've stormed the Oval Office and had him hauled off in a straitjacket.

Trump Targets ‘Ridiculous’ Right To Citizenship For Anyone Born In U.S.

This isn’t the first time the president has said he was looking to end birthright citizenship, which is granted by the 14th Amendment. Predictably, Trump's anger is aimed at people of color, meanwhile, white folks can continue enjoying that "ridiculous" right without any problems.

Democrats Cite ‘Evidence Of Possible Misconduct’ With Trump Tax Returns

A whistleblower apparently contacted House Democrats this summer about potentially “inappropriate efforts to influence” an audit of the president. But hey, Trump has nothing to hide, right? RIGHT?

Joe Walsh is apparently kicking around the idea of a Republican primary challenge.

It woudl be nicer if there one, single, really strong Republican challenger to primary Trump. But still still, even multiple weak challengers could be interesting. If they can draw off enough voters, it could give trump and other elected Republicans a scare and food for thought.

Bottom line, how many Republican Voters are not all that happy with Trump and are looking for an alternative? if the number turns out to be high enough, it might break some of Trump's control over the party. If not, then the Republican Party is going down the toilet.

    edit: Sorry for the typos

I feel the more signs we get of recession the more the Republicans will restore some of their backbone. Those in the party cool with the bigotry, stupidity, and general madness so long as their money wasn't affected now have a reason to speak up.

Walsh is slightly interesting because he literally has no political career to factor in. If the guy decides to go on the political equivalent of a Wile E. Coyote trying to get the Road Runner, his career won't really suffer for him having done so.

On this date in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, as well as 2018, "Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day" published profiles of the Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, a man so inept that he couldn’t handle two inches of snow without declaring it a state of emergency, a man so corrupt he’s been under ethics investigations for half a decade, and a man so bigoted that he appointed a former spokesman for an anti-immigrant hate group to a state immigration board, wants the 14th Amendment repealed, tried to block Syrian refugees from coming to his state, wrote the White House to demand a copy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate, and made it a point to justify why Georgia should have Confederate-themed license plates. Oh, and Deal was forced to apologize after he referred to African Americans as “colored people” in November of 2016. Mercifully, Nathan Deal left office in early 2019, and has yet to run for any other office. We’ll set aside his profile at this time and go ahead and take a look at a different wacky Republican today instead. (Current crazy/stupid scoreboard, is now 774-40, since this was established in July 2014.)

    Jim Renacci

Welcome to the 774th original “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day” profile, where today we’ll be discussing Jim Renacci, who served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives for Ohio’s 16th Congressional District, first arriving in the Tea Party Wave in 2010. He was the tenth wealthiest member of Congress at the time, and that had a lot to do with his acquisition of a car dealership in 2007 by buying it off a guy about to go to prison for apparently laundering drug money. Renacci won re-election three times after the GOP gerrymandered the Congressional map, and then after a brief flirtation with running for Governor of Ohio to replace John Kasich, opting for an ill-fated attempt at getting elected to U.S. Senate in the 2018 Blue Wave year, thinking he could knock off Demoratic Senator Sherrod Brown.

Late in that last campaign, as Renacci was trailing by double-digits, he and Ohio Republicans led a misinformation campaign to accuse Sherrod Brown of committing sexual harassment against supposedly multiple three decades prior. Bizarrely, while they deemed Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations against Brett Kavanaugh as “not credible”, with all her ability to show she had been attacked and said as much years prior to going public to her therapist and others… Brown’s accuser never came forward publicly, who had no one to corroborate her, at all, as “credible”. Effectively, Renacci said, “I heard from a woman that said…” and never produced that woman. He might have well have been touting an imaginary girlfriend from Canada. Instead, he also decided to accuse Sherrod Brown of also committing domestic abuse back in 1986, again, without any evidence.

So, it turns out we have Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) to blame for the Greenland debacle:

If Don Henley is his running mate, they'd make an interesting pair.

Other than being a scumbag of a campaigner, we’ll also note that Renacci actually had the balls to defend Donald Trump’s comments about “s***hole countries” in 2018. Feel free to peruse his voting record, which includes such sad moments as:

We personally hope he never runs for office again, and just goes back to being a shady car salesman.

Man, this is the most grievous slander I've ever seen against the Eagles, mixing up their Joe Walsh with that racist miscreant.

Singapore tells Elon Musk to **** off.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...le-not-climate

Singapore has a message for Elon Musk: Taking mass transit is a better climate-change solution than tooling around in one of his Tesla Inc.’s electric vehicles.

The city-state, which has said its efforts to cope with climate change are as crucial as military defense, has prioritized greater use of its trains and buses, Masagos Zulkifli, minister for environment and water resources, said in an interview Wednesday. Musk has criticized the country for being slow to adopt EVs and said in a January tweet the government “has been unwelcome.”

“What Elon Musk wants to produce is a lifestyle,” Zulkifli said Wednesday when asked about the entrepreneur’s comments. “We are not interested in a lifestyle. We are interested in proper solutions that will address climate problems.”

Feels like he's covering for the Big Orange Idiot. I doubt Cotton could find Denmark on a map even if you gave him 30 minutes, a globe, and use of the internet.

Conservatives’ Freakout Over the 1619 Project Reveals Their Fear of America’s Actual Past: It turns out conservatives love history—unless it’s true.

How conservatives react to the 1619 Project I think is a good litmus test for what really matters to them.

Is it the expansion of the American creed to all those implicated in the project, including the descendants of slaves? Or is it racial animus?

Are conservatives interested in the Founding Fathers of actual history? Or are they interested in a certain myth of the Founding Fathers?

The 1619 Project is the best popularization of what academic historians have known for some time. In short, it’s the elaboration and corrective of the shorter, simplistic stories we learned in middle school and high school about American history. The New York Times is doing a great public service in rendering the massive amounts of scholarship digestible for the general public. What we do with this information is up to us, but ignoring the information entirely, or claiming that it is false, or that the NYT are motivated by animus against the United States, is both absurd and deeply revealing of what really matters to conservatives.

If you truly care about your country, then you should want to know its history, including its darkest moments.
