Who’s your favorite magic caster?

Most of my top 5 DC characters are magic users, so this is tough for me. Spectre doesn't really "cast" magic though, he is simply a supernatural force, so while he is my favorite DC character (Corrigan version), I decided to give the vote to Kent Nelson (Dr. Fate). Zatanna got consideration as did Phantom Stranger and Madame Xanadu (neither of whom were on the list). Tim Hunter, Amethyst, Arion and Constantine would be a step behind those for me.

A beautifully complicated, ambiguous, morally gray character who was a great joy to read until the demise of Vertigo and was integrated into the DCU proper.

I chose Dr Fate and while it may not be a popular stance, I actually like Fate more because the helmet switches hands. Each iteration of Fate is different and there's a certain anticipation to see who gets it next or if someone gets to retain/reclaim it. Maybe it's because I never felt attached to any one bearer of the mantle. That said, I do think they're switching them out too often now though before we really get to know any of them very well.

Zatanna and Constantine round out the Top 3 for me.
