Kamala Khan is definitely Peter Parker's 21st-century heir. Why? They both struck gold with their first costume designs and nothing else, no matter how cool or well-done, will be able to top them in the eyes of the fans. That's the impression I'm getting from the reaction to Kamala's new costume.

I know why people call Kamala the 21st-century Peter Parker heir but I've always kind of thought it was Sam Alexander.

    I mean, think about it:

    - Missing father figure.

    - Hard luck kid who sometimes seems like he loses more then he wins.

    - The world seems out to make his life as depressing and difficult as possible.

    That's pretty Peter Parker-esque.

A great costume design does not make you an heir to Spider-Man, otherwise Moon Knight would be a heck of a lot more popular.

I have always seen Kamala as Cyclops with all the pain and angst removed.

This costume is hideous and too busy. I haven't yet jumped onto the new series since Willow left but this is not Ms Marvel.

I guess it's that time for Marvel to tease Mar-Vell coming back only to not actually bring him back again. Calling it now: this dude is going to be Yon-Rogg or some villain like that, who's gonna conveniently look a lot like Jude Law.

I haven't got the app, but they seem to be up on the website.

Makes sense really, when you consider how Richard Rider started out - Marvel's answer to Green Lantern (whose origin he ripped off) but in the style of Spider-Man (i.e. teen hero balancing school and superheroics). Nova was always meant to be a next gen Spidey, before we had actual next gen Spideys. Rich grew up, so they tried to repeat it with Sam.

Ah! After quite a few months where I wasn't finding many monthlies to buy, I'm glad to have a month to be excited about! Like Spencer's Spidey, I am intrigued by Hickman's X-Men, buy I'll probably tradewait. I will definitely be buying the following as monthlies:

    Death's Head
    Giant-Sized X-STATIX
    Superior Spider-Man
    Silver Surfer: Black
    Runaways

    -Pav, who loves his D-Listers...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back

It isn’t the details as such. It’s the feeling you get when reading the book. Right from the beginning I got this vibe, but more than that, I felt it more strongly than any other character in the intervening period. I think it is the grounded realism of her situation and environment. It’s often said, but specificity is what makes characters identifiable.

In early Spider-Man we very quickly know who he is, where he lives, the people that surround him, and therefore we can appreciate his outlook. We don’t need to have visited that place, ever have been in the US education system, ever have shared any of his problems or challenges. We often point at the big issues from Peter’s life, but perhaps the genie in the bottle is actually the smaller things.
