Both of these characters were horribly wasted and killed off in a lame way in a third installments of a trilogy. But who got it the worst?
I’m going to go with Phoenix in X3. At least Spider-Man’s Venom got to actually fight with the title hero while Phoenix never went toe to toe with any of the X-Men.

I agree. Phoenix got put on the back burner. Eddie Brock was involved with most of the movie from act one and got the full story arc from the comics.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."

Phoenix easily. The only problem with Venom in Spidey 3 was the same problem the whole movie had - way too much going on. It was still a decent try at a Venom story though whereas Last Stand butchered everything but Logan's indestructible pants.
