Default In real life what Batman villains would be sent to a mental asylum?

Personally I think that in real life guys like Ventriloquist, Scarecrow, Twoface, Mad Hatter, and Professor Pyg would be deemed mentally unstable and placed in an asylum given how delusional the characters can be but all the rest would likely be sent to Blackgate.

In real life, Batman would get locked up in Arkham long before any of his villains.

I think you could probably make a case for Poison Ivy because anyone with such a disconnect between humans and plant life is probably not the most mentally stable person around.

No he wouldn't. they wouldn't be able to find him or catch him and if they did they couldn't hold him long enough. also that isn't relevant because Batman isn't a villain so stay on topic dude

Most likely, no. Most would either be imprisoned and/or executed.

In fairness, though, in the DCU, The Geen is a real thing. She's less crazy and more extremist, really.

No, Ivy falls firmly on the antisocial disorder spectrum which means she'd fry. Ignoring that she essentially raped Clayface in Death of the Family, the various acts that can be interpreted as sexual assaults on her teammates in BOP, all of her previous pre New 52 and Crisis canon as a serial murderer, serial rapist, thief, and hebephile, and focusing strictly on Cycle of Life, she wouldn't go to the Asylum. Even if we disregard the various murders she committed in that series with even less justification than Dexter (and more ability to relate to and connect to people than Dexter or Hannibal Lector), she's going down on CITES charges for poaching of a critically endangered and rare plant, transportation of rare and endangered plants for commercial and personal use without permits, crossing international borders with CITES protected species, introduction of invasive species, and various other biology related charges.

The biologists, ecologists, environmentalists, and conservationists would come down upon her with all the righteous fury of under paid people passionate about their careers. And she would be convicted because she's well aware that what she does is wrong even if she thinks the rules don't apply to her. Plant people can overlook murder and human endangerment. Removing a 2000 year old plant from its environment to add to your personal collection? Kill her with fire and compost the ashes. Although that's not allowed if the criminal in question is a white American, instead she'd probably face 10-20, and based on her past parole options starting at 10.

All of them, except for Penguin, and other criminal kingpins, who does not bloody their hands in violence openly in public.

No way. None of them meet the legal definition of insanity except maybe Two-Face and Mad Hatter. Freeze is motivated by petty revenge, Ivy is an ecoterrorist, Joker is a school shooter on a grander scale, Bane is a criminal kingpin, etc. They can choose not to kill, Joker spent a year undercover as Eric Boulder for example, they just don’t want to. Furthermore most of them know what they’re doing is wrong which would disqualify them from being criminally insane.

The Joker would be executed for sure. I could see Two Face going to a mental institution and maybe the Mad Hatter. You would have a hard sell for the rest of them.

Of the more noteworthy enemies, Two-Face and Ventriloquist would be the only ones I think belong there.
