Ware's style and books are probably not going to appeal to most of the super-hero fans who haunt the CBR boards. I have read bits and pieces of his stuff, and it is quite good, but a very different read from most mainstream and even quite a few alternate/indy books (and by indy I mean stuff that isn't put out by the big 5 comic publishers in the front of Previews and by alternate I mean stuff that probably never gets into Previews at all).
Before he was outed and fell from grace, Charlie Rose did an interview with Chris Ware on his show that really is a good showcase for Ware and his approach to comics, and a good overview of his stuff. I've read some of the stuff from the Acme Novelty Library, and Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Boy on Earth, but haven't read his most ambitious project-Building Stories.
If you are into books by the likes of Dan Clowes, Peter Bagge, Chester Brown and that ilk of cartoonists, you will probably have an affinity for Ware's stuff. If you are into more mainstream stuff, Ware's stuff might be out of your comfort zone.
