I loved it. One of my favorite runs since The New 52.

Atlantiades is Hermaphroditus who’s intersex i.e both male and female. However, since trans activists have deemed the word “hermaphrodite” offensive, “they” goes by Atlantiades now which is beyond ridiculous if you ask me

I find these statements both bigoted and factually wrong.

Intersex describes a lot more than being both male and female.

Transsexuals have good reason to find the term hermaphrodite offensive, since it has (a) been used as a slur against them and (b) doesn't fit them. But intersex activists have also found the term used imprecise and used against them by the medical establishment.

Atlantiades is an old name used for the mythological character.

Using "they" as a third-person singular pronomen goes back to the 14th century, and there is absolutely no reason to mock those people who choose to use it.

Because Atlantiades refers to any god related to Atlas, particularly Hermes. Their name is Hermaphroditus and that’s that, regardless of how one might feel about a word derived from his name

Wilson probably did choose the name Atlantiades over Hermaphrodite over concerns of the word being used as a slur. Honestly though, I've listened to a lot of trans content (i.e. I watch Contrapoints videos) and I don't think I've ever heard the word brought up as a slur. There are just so many other words in the transphobes toolbox that are much more potent. It's never struck me until now though that of all the recent social movements, the transcommunity is the one of a few that hasn't undergone an extensive linguistic and cultural reclamation. Words that once demeaned women, African Americans and the gay community are subverted by the people to whom they were once directed too. The same is true for certain characters and linguistic tropes, the concept of the Amazons being one of the best examples.

I also think its interesting that thus far, no one has thus far noted that the only trans character to maybe ever appear in a Wonder Woman comic is presented to us as a villain. Maybe he is not a 'true' villain, but in this issue alone we've seen him mind control/mind break an entire town.

I like how Wilson continues to have the Gods refer to Diana as "Daughter of Hippolyta" with no mention of Zeus. Ha!

It seems to be given only to Hermes and Hermaphroditus, who is Hermes's offspring and that's why they also bear that name. Hermes is not going to be referred to by any other name to the American comic reading audience except maybe Mercury, so there's never gonna be any confusion

Both names belong to them, it is not "that's that." In this day and age, if actual Greek lore has provided Wilson another name to use to smoothly side step any potential controversy, she's wise to take it. Nobody should be bothered by this, it's not like she made up a new name all on her own.

It's possible there is another hand at work here. When Diana says something more is going on and that Atlantiades needs to address it, it sort of seems like they are not responsible for everything. Dr. Psycho maybe?
