Another Amalgam Thread (aka a crazy man talks to himself on a public forum)

I always give myself "writing exercises" to keep myself from being bored at places like work. My longest running has been trying to come up with a perfect Amalgam universe with at least 1,000 characters. I realized when accidentally killing another poster's Amalgam Comics thread that I'm not as far off as I thought. I just keep getting hung up on certain characters. So I'm going to do the ones I'm sure of and come back to the reminders....until I get frustrated or distracted.

So, first...

1. Superman Family + Fantastic Four = Fantastic Family.

This is based on Alex Ross saying something about the main genres of comics, and the first breakthrough heroes for those genres are:

Science Fiction: Superman
Crime: Batman
Myth: Wonder Woman
Comedy: Plastic Man
Magic: Shazam (aka Captain Marvel)

So, my thought was Fantastic Four are the 1st breakthrough, modern Marvel, characters for the Sci-Fi genre. So for this amalgam, I'm going with:

2. Superman + Mr. Fantastic = Fantastic Man (the father figures of each universe)
3. Lois Lane + Invisible Woman = Invisible Girl Reporter, Lois Storm (the mother figure of each universe)
4. Jimmy Olsen + Human Torch II = The Human Flame, Jimmy Storm (the 'little brother' figure or each property)
5. Power Girl + The Thing = Miss Thing (the brawler of both families)

6. Lex Luthor + Dr. Doom = Dexter Doom, AKA Dr. Dome (one of the main villains of the each universe, and the main villain of each franchise)

I am definitely a fan of taking Amalgam comics into a more fan produced role, since that is likely all the "new" content we will ever get.

Sentry and Power Ring from The Crime syndicate- Except maybe instead of the spirit entrapped in the ring being a mad monk It could be a Benevolent Spirit named Lindsey who helps Power Sentry battle the voices in his head all that badness. OR Suppose our hero is a fairly perfect Superman Analog and In their final battle. His arch enemy( The Emerald Void?) sees that he will lose again, kills himself but in a final action sends his spirit into the ring which becomes permanently affixed to our Hero's finger. and seeks to drive our hero mad with voices and visions and what not

Joe Fixit and Superman= Fixitman- Seems there's this planet of Outwardly grumpy cynical slovenly Brutish Gray skinned Aliens who are actually quite adavanced and have a heart of gold. Say they also have shape changing powers that have become atrophied due to lack of use because these SMASHONians just became bored with them. So any way\. This one scientist catch on to the fact that Smashon is about to explode. He brings it to the council and they're all " Right, Nutbag. We'll get right on that." They actually found his data quite credible and concerning. That's just how Smashonians talked. It constantly led to stupid and tragic misunderstandings So...The scientist is dissatified with the sense of urgency that he perceives from this Response and one thing leads to another so he and his lovely,( Well not to us probably) scientist wife secure their infant son Milk- Sop into a rocket ship for Earth just prior to the big boom where they figure he'll end up with cool powers and probably end running the dump before you know it. Also somethin or another is rigged to Activate Milk Sop's limited Shape shifting ability just so much that he can switch back and forth between his form and that of the Dominant Humanoids on the Planet. earth, I think it is. Milk- Sop's ship arrives. He's adopted by some nice Hicks. gets the powers and Yada Yada yada. Grows up as Bruce Kent. Extreme Scientific brilliance.Becomes a mild mannered science journalist. Powers only activate when he turns Gray. Grew up in Bannerville moved to Gammaopolis

Bruce Wayne & Tony Stark = Dark Iron Knight or The Iron Bat Later takes on Matthew Grayson as protetge after his bad day at the circus. Freak event leaves Matt blind but with Super senses and of course he's already a gifted acrobat and hand to hand combatant but Bruce sets him up with some armor and Matthew becomes Devilwing

Batman & Captain America= Dark Soldier. The Super soldier Treatment intially seemed not to work but started taking effect months After Steve Wayne is rejected by the military and sent home. When his wealthy parents are murdered. Steve takes the vow and undergoes the training you expect and finds an off shoot under ground cult of Powerful Nazi terroist using both super tech and supernatural means to stir up trouble domestically.

Lex Luthor + Red Skull= Rex Skull- Evil Inventor/ Erstwhile conquerer/ Industrialist,secret Nazi Phile: Arch enemy of course to My Superman/ Captain America amalgam who I have decided to name.... Captain Sky or Captain Hope or maybe Captain Star. I'm seeing a costume like Star spangled kid and he'd have the sheild of course. I see Rex as slippery enough to elude prosecution right thru 2 terms of the presidency. He laid low agenda wise as president,serving quite competantly actually so to garner data and resources and attemptto lull enemies into a false sense of security. After his second term of Office, he leaves the Us a sets up his own Island Nation.
