Ya Age of X had little to know interest for me,everyone already knows the X-Men return the main MU and that Hickman is taking over and totally changing thing his way.So why waste money on these Age of X-Men stuff for three or four months when the story is basically not going to matter, not just in the long term but in fact more then likely in just a few minor months.

Also think fans are really tired of the alternate worlds/timeline stuff and more so when it comes to the X-Men side of things.

Anyone with a functioning brain could've predicted a six month AU event revolving around a punchline character from the '90s would end up a financial disaster.

That's the thing - there's only been one, Age of X, and it was entirely contained in three issues and an Alpha.

Age of X actually lasted 4 months and had 11 issues

Heroes Reborn and House of M are the other 2 stories with a similar concept. All did better than Age of X-man

had no doubt, ever since this stinker was announced I have hated it.
Ommadon: “By summoning all the dark powers I will infest the spirit of man So that he uses his science and logic to destroy himself. Greed and avarice shall prevail, and those who do not hear my words shall pay the price. I'll teach man to use his machines, I'll show him what distorted science can give birth to. I'll teach him to fly like a fairy, and I'll give him the ultimate answer to all his science can ask. And the world will be free for my magic again.”

And one that has little to no actual action and is mainly just issue upon issue of talking heads having philosophical debates about the necessity of companionship and love. Really the only actual interesting one is Prisoner X and that’s because the whole thing is a mystery.

Thompson/Nadler: We want to do an event about Nate Grey

Editors: Ehhh, sounds like risky business

Thompson/Nadler: It's about how the X-Men can't function without shipping

Editors: Done! You get six months and every resource available!

    More like:

White: We need some filler stuff before Hickman arrives, any ideas?

    *Silence*

    *More silence*

    *Even more silence*

Thompson/Nadler: Ehhh, how about an event about Nate Grey?

White: Yeah... guess that crap would work. Well done everybody!

Meanwhile Uncanny just skates by getting the sales while having just the leftovers that Age of X-Man didn’t snatch up plus Cyclops and Wolverine.

That’s generally what happens when you don’t advertise an event (one as out there as Age of X-Man) happening that has a bunch of new/newish Big 2 writers attached.

I don't think it was entirely the lack of advertising (though lord knows that did not help!), as the complete inability of the folks in charge of promotion to distill the event down into a core concept. If you weren't one of the hardcore X-Fans seeking out writer interviews and such, did you even know what you were supposed to be shelling out $$$ for? Something kind of like AoA, I guess, sort of, maybe? Not exactly the best way to grab those pre-order dollars.

No amount of advertising could've saved this.
