Graphic novels - sports or alternative history

Hello. I'm interested in getting into a good graphic novel series. I was wondering, is there any series with any sports as the base/premise/background? Also, is there any series based on an alternative history? What if the Axis had won WWII?, What if Kennedy or ML King or Lincoln had not been assassinated? Anything history related like that.

Help me out guys. I'm 59 years old and have not read a comic book in over 40 years. I'd be more interested in graphic novels than individual comics. I'm interested in any and all suggestions.
