I assume the multiverse is how they'll explain away mutants / the X-Men. The mutant versions of characters were from a different earth and when Hulk snapped them back Mutant Bobby Drake replaced this earth's Bobby Drake or something like that.

Strange mentioned it but Endgame confirmed it with alternate realities I will say will say while I believe this can be use for the X-Men I don't believe any of it was done for that given Endgame began filming months before the December 2017 announcement of the merger.

It'd be interesting if THIS Mysterio is telling the truth, but our universe's Mysterio see's his counterpart in action and become jealous and ends up becoming a villain.
