Pretty simple question and for the purpose of this discussion the science X-club guys don't count so no Madison Jefferies or Dr. Nemesis. I am looking for the smartest X-man character who has the potential to regularly appear in books and not be shipped off to comic book limbo on whim. You can rephrase the question as if Beast was to be brutal murdered what character would become the go to person for science,tech and intelligence.

Prodigy? I feel like that's a bit of a cheat since he literally knows everything Hank would have known up to House of M.
Otherwise there's Forge for engineering, Cecilia Reyes if you just want a mutant medical doctor
Kitty, Cypher, Sage and/or Trinary are great for computer programming, hacking, research, etc.

Emma is up there. Not on the same level as McCoy, Forge, Reyes, or Sage, but she has advanced knowledge of machinery and engineering.
