Who is the smartest X-man other than Beast?

Pretty simple question and for the purpose of this discussion the science X-club guys don't count so no Madison Jefferies or Dr. Nemesis. I am looking for the smartest X-man character who has the potential to regularly appear in books and not be shipped off to comic book limbo on whim. You can rephrase the question as if Beast was to be brutal murdered what character would become the go to person for science,tech and intelligence.

Emma is up there. Not on the same level as McCoy, Forge, Reyes, or Sage, but she has advanced knowledge of machinery and engineering.

Smartest means a person with high IQ and not someone with knowledge of a field.

If we talk about supergenies that know everything like Hank Pym, Reed Richards or Bruce Banner before Immortal Hulk, they have none other than Beast. That's why it does not matter what he does, they always have to forgive him.

Now on top he knows magic.

One of the reason I made this thread because of convo on this forum where a person complained Cyclops being used a leader and they were mad because other character aren't getting a chance. My point was his character(cyclops) design means he is a good leader so once he is around well he is going to lead. People overlook that no other roles are real given out to other characters and focus leader because it is clear obvious role. They have been many different characters who are leaders but Beast is pretty much the only "science guy" in the 50 to 100 or so characters in main group of people we consider the X-men.

Beast is always generally around in the X-universe because he has clear role to do in the X-men. It is so bad that they imported in Dark Beast to Uncanny because there isn't other establish science guy in the X-men world while Beast is Age of X-man. There wasn't even another science character around to call Hank out on the f**ckery of messing with time on science level of bringing back the 05. It is just something to think about Beast gets loads of character development (most bad though nobody else to blame for science screw ups ).

In world without Beast around since nobody is a super genius "the smart guy role" would be shared around more characters Sage, Kitty, Forge would get more tech focus; M, Emma, Cypher would get more recognition for their general intelligence, Prodigy as character might be developed into more biology/chemical scientific areas, also a doctor like Celia Reyes would play role and maybe Triage and Elixir would be developed as traditional healers as complements to their powers. But as long as super genius is around he is easy option for a story or a team.

No smartest means whoever the smartest is around,If there is no one with a super high IQ around then smartest could be person who is the specialist in their field. I was looking for yes someone with the general all around knowledge like Beast but if they aren't any then it is the next in line. Kitty won't be able to operate on person but Celia Reyes can, Celia can't fix a computer but Kitty can, Cypher can decipher code but Forge can't,Forge can repair the Blackbird but Cypher can't.A subject matter Specialist mean something in a topic about intelligence when a Generalist isn't around.

I agree. People were surprised when in a thread of what X-Men have had the greatest number of appearances, Beast was the second above Cyclops (The first is obvious).

And it had to be Beast. He has appearances on virtually every mutant line there is. Even during Death of X Cyclops contacts Beast because he is simply the only mutant science guy.

There should be more, the problem is that that is a clear difference with for example the Avengers. Many superheroes are scientists because intelligence is the direct or indirect source of their powers, mutants instead have powers by birth, writers do not feel the need to make them smart.

Last time Beast left X-men they had the X-club in his place. So up until now I don't think there is an individual one except Dark Beast can replace Beast.

That's never been proven..Forge is a complete flake without his powers giving him answers to all his advancements. Beast, Dark Beast, Sinister, Magneto are all natural brilliant...
