Thanos is while yes could be considered an Avengers villain to me will always be more of a Marvel Universe villain.

COurse, you can argue being an Avenger villain and a marvel universe villain are almost the same thing.

Kang and Ultron are the Avengers nemesis imo, Thanos is more universal and I consider Adam Warlock, Captain Mar-Vell and the Silver Surfer as his main rivals more so than the Avengers.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.
