Pfft, Drogon's the only one worth saving these days. After Rhaegal was ambushed, Drogon was bobbing and weaving better than any X-Wing at point blank range.

Not that it matters with that much firepower, though.

    2. Handguns are NOT illicit in NYC or anywhere else in the state. You simply have to have a permit to own one.
Do you have any idea what it takes to get a handgun permit in NYC? Google it. The rural counties in NY can be easy. Not the city.

It simply doesn't matter. There are more than 40,000 handgun permits already in the city. And who knows how many un-licensed guns either grandfathered in or not needing permits. Plus the police. Plus the military. Plus criminals. Plus plus plus plus. In the USA, there are more guns than people. Even if we assume that NYC is the specialist place ever and only has one gun per TEN people, that places more than 800k firearms in the hands of ordinary folks.

Again, most of the weapons being discussed will probably do more harm than good. Except maybe clipping Dany, the Dragons should be able to ignore most non military stuff.

The National Guard are the heroes here. They will eventually roll up with something that should blow them to hell.

If Dany realizes the danger firearms pose, then she would keep to higher up. How soon she comes to understand this is an important question. If she gets it early on, I would think only fighter jets, attack copters, or some kind of mobile missile launcher would win it.

My guess is she and her dragons do huge amounts of damage, especially since GOTs dragon flame seems to have some kinetic punch to it. Drogon blew stone apart like a bazooka round. That's a little more than just flaming jelly.

Oh, yeah. Many people die lol. The city will still be standing but it won't be feeling good by the end.

What's the range on her fire though? All the season 8 stuff has been pretty close range (definitely within shooting distance.) I don't specifically recall longer range stuff from previous seasons, though it wouldn't shock me if there was.

My Google Fu + best personal estimates puts her maximum effective fire range at around 300 feet. Not great. Not terrible.

Honestly, I can't really see a significant fraction of the civilian gunowners in any city responding to an active terrorist strike that is potentially toppling buildings by charging towards it, guns blazing, rather than trying to evacuate the area/go into cover/generally panic and let the police and military take them down with snipers and aircrafts, which will probably happen fairly quickly in any case, considering how many alerts will be going off the moment they pop into restricted airspace like that.

Like, during 9/11 I don't remember seeing a bunch of hunters and gang members run into Ground Zero in case there was another (possibly lighter) aircraft coming to take down the Empire State building next.

Yeah, this occurred to me too. I realized it after posting all that stuff about gun statistics that it is probably irrelevant anyway. Especially in New York, where the building height probably makes sight lines on the dragons very hard to achieve until they are already on top of you breathing fire.

First as far as left standing are we just talking Manhattan or the 5 boroughs?

National Guard who hang bellow at pen and Grand train stations, are pretty much useless against Dany and Dragons. Not sure why anyone is invoking them, the arms they carry are useless against the speed and height dragons are flying, and more importantly by the time they even get upstairs and in any kind of useful position, half the City is on fire to destroyed. They are not getting there. If they had started on rooftops (by the thousands) maybe they could have had some effect with on-mass machine gunfire tearing at the dragons , but they are not up there, that is not where they hang, and they are not getting up there fast enough. Neither are civilians)

As far as civilian on the ground what they pack is mostly useless, unless anyone is pulling out bazookas or anti aircraft missiles. pretty sure they are uncommon to non-existent. (except maybe some nut-job out in Long Island, which Dany isn't even flying over anyway.

That anyone is invoking civilians and cops with hand guns is laughable. The useless Cops and civilians on the ground, are mostly getting trampled by masses of panicked running civilians, burnt alive, zero visibility through smoke, falling debris, glass and ash, by the time they even look up to get a clear shot , the dragons flown on to the other end of the city, causing more of the same.

First strike will be when the air-force gets there and take her and dragons down with speed and fire power). Although by then most of Manhattan is taken out. No way fire dept gets anything under control at this level, by end maybe just the outskirts of Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island survive.

I dunno, is standard bloodlust allowed here? Because then those civilians would join the fray (and all the disaster that comes with it).

Though, I'm reminded of every time Sam Raimi had regular New Yorkers help out Spider-Man. While a nice sentiment, it's definitely borne out of 9/11, and in hindsight them coming out to help Spider-Man is the same kind of fantasy as regular civilians joining NYPD and the military in hunting down dragons.

This is a scenario and I don't think you can invoke bloodlust on civilians.

Okay, but I feel like your average New Yorker would vehemently disagree with you. Or at least, that's what Ghostbusters II taught me.
