I really liked the MDO initiative and thought it could be great for many upcoming books, but I'm not sure how that worked out for Marvel. All of the books that were under that imprint haven't been ''renewed'' for more arcs and no new books have been announced for the imprint, so I get the feeling they just gave up on it.

Which was a mistake. They just had the wrong titles in there. It should've been the all-ages stuff, not the Netflix characters. It's younger people who are more likely to buy digital. Also, the Netflix shows getting cancelled might be why the MDOs went away.

I wasn't aware that the digital market skewed that young. For all ages titles, a goal is get get the young kids (6-10 or so) to help renew the comic reading audience. I'm not disputing, just finding that a surprising statement. I've heard the Moon and Squirrel titles did well in trade, but heard nothing about their digital sales (if outside sources actually exist).

Ms. Marvel (aimed at the same Scholastic crowd) is well known for being a REALLY strong digital seller. And younger people are less likely to use specialist comic book stores, which by default means they're more likely to buy digital and/or trades.

Cloak & Dagger was also under the imprint and they still have a show, but yeah, it was probably awkward for Marvel to launch this entire initiative with 4/5 books focused on the Netflix characters to promote the shows only to see all of them get cancelled. Maybe they'll relaunch the imprint once the Disney+/Hulu shows start coming out?

Man, Marvel keeps screwing over Whitley. And that is sad as he is a really good writer.

This whole thing is...frustrating. Why should I care about Marvel and its books if they keep cancelling them before they get a chance and keep screwing their writers over?

Since I mostly stick to X-Books side I just saw the bad news.

Well this is a pisser. Marvel currently has younger hero book with Champions also getting canned and no Academy X book on the market.

Meanwhile DC has Teen Titans and Young Justice and soon Legion (bleh).

So no Power Pack, no FF, no Champions, no Young Avengers, no Academy X, not a shitting thing.

    God dammit, Marvel.

Champions is in Incoming, so we can be almost certain that it relaunches in January. I also won't be surprised if they launch an X teens book early next year.

For what it's worth, Teen Titans looks like it's about to conclude as well, they're finally resolving the identity of The Other in December, a plot thread from when Glass first took over the book.

The fact you put a spoiler tag on the solicit means that someone died, someone turns out to be evil other than Reed Richards, or other a character returned from death.

Yeah, it is one of those. The solicit has spoiled something that happens in issue 4.

There’s no Earth-# tags on those images so I don’t think it says anything about the fate of the realities we’ve seen before; more likely those are parallel versions of them.

They are a bunch of alternate universes created by Franklin, Owen and company during the Richards' travels post SW. And the phrase is "worlds were dying". Not "worlds have died." It's possible this can all be reversed and fixed. After all, it's a superhero comic book.
