It was more of a way to keep telling stories with Jean, who was already dead. Hope became a White Hot Phoenix and was fine. It's an underdeveloped concept with a cool as heck costume.

I say if the Phoenix comes back, let the second most well known host (Rachel) have it......she’s the one who didn’t lose herself to its power (even curb stomping Mastermind when he tried attempt #3 at revenge/ attempt #2 at controlling the Phoenix......), she even beat Galactus......also, they can keep her around......

Jean just gave up the thing when it brought her back, so it’s logical that her “daughter “ gets it......

Either that or, to be interesting, maybe Quentin Quire, one of the Stepford Cukoos (forgot about them earlier) or Psylocke (she’s a telepath, and came back once already, thanks to her brother......it would be a new host and not a retread......)

Hope didn't become WPotC. She became a White Phoenix, but the WPotC is a higher variation on it. It means being the complete personification of the Phoenix. Only Jean has become that, and it turned her entirely into energy.

God I hope so: Phoenix Resurrection (or whatever it was called) was a colossal disappointment. I hope Hickman does for Jean Grey and the Phoenix what he did for Franklin Richards.

Bendis probably just wanted to put Hope into the White Phoenix costume for superficial reasons. I doubt he thought whether it really made her White Phoenix of the Crown or not, or what being WPOTC even really means.

who knows? but I think Phoenix comes too much as expense of Jean. And I don't think Hickman really cares about the character to do a good story

Phoenix isnt a top priority from all the signs of what he's leading to. Jean will have a big moment with Nate Grey though by the end of Age Of X Man.
