Default Archie Comics Revisits "The Married Life" In August 2019

Archie: The Married Life is coming back! (This one is based off of the stories presented in the 2009 Archie Anniversary issues and not the Life With Archie series that culminated in Archie's death.), it takes place ten years after the events of those issues and follows the adventures of Archie and the families he's raised in both realities with Betty and Veronica as his wives.

10 years later, a landmark moment in Archie Comics history is being revisited! ARCHIE: THE MARRIED LIFE 10th ANNIVERSARY, is a sequel to the headline-making 2009 “Archie Wedding” storyline. The original storyline written by Michael Uslan answered Riverdale’s longest-running question: will Archie marry Betty or Veronica? Fans were treated to two alternate worlds that explored each possibility and Uslan’s sequel picks up both stories ten years later. See how much life has changed for Archie, his family, and the rest of Riverdale in this new and exciting mini-series.

Didn't both of those timelines culminate into Archie dying? Kind of curious to see what they do here.

This isn't based off those continuities, it's based off the timelines we saw in the anniversary issues, which were also called "The Married Life". Life With Archie was entirely separate.

Think of this as Renew Your Vows to Life With Archie's Spider-Girl

Maybe in the "Betty" series he divorces her and then marries Veronica, and vice versa in the other series. Or maybe in both of them he gets divorced and then marries Midge Klump. Or Jughead.

Why do fans always have to assume the worst case scenario with these marriages?

Life With Archie already teased he'd get divorced from Veronica, but they made it work.

Because a large fraction of marriages do in fact end in divorce nowadays, and because it is an inherent part of the book that Archie tends to mess up everything.

So what? Plenty of marriages can also go the distance. The solicitation has indicated he's been happily married a decade, most divorce rates you're thinking of come after two or five years.

I also love how you deliberately ignored my second point, that they've already done a divorce plot in Life With Archie, and it was settled.

I'm aware of that, but I think it'd be better if he kept the marriages but screwed things up with raising the kids. There are other ways to create family drama than "lol divorce"

Remember, this new mini-series is not a sequel to "Life With Archie". It is a sequel directly to the "marriage" books. Since it is an alternate future to the two timelines that were portrayed in "Life With Archie", there is no reason to expect that things would turn out the same way this time. In this telling, maybe the threatened divorce from Veronica actually does go through.
