    Default Your Marvel Video Game

Alright, so, say you get the chance to make your own Marvel Game with no strings attached - what would you do? What kind of story would you give it? Would you be playing as established heroes, or an original character? Would it be centered around one single character or would it be an ensemble piece? What kind of game is it? An action game, a roleplaying game, fighting game? You have full creative freedom to do whatever you'd like to with this project, so... go wild with it!

Personally, there are a few different types of game that I have considered using on a Marvel setting, but to start we're going to go with the recent one: a solely Marvel fighting game created by either Bandai Namco (the fluidity and complexity of Project Soul's titles would be wonderful) or Netherrealm Studios (I've been playing Injustice 2 lately, and it's sort of perfect). The story would be intensive and something that you'd expect of a Marvel title and despite it being, well, the easy option it wouldn't be a contest of champions. In the story mode it would be the heroes facing off against the villains almost exclusively, though of course the possibility of a heroic disagreement popping up isn't out of the question. The roster would be about 24 characters in the base of the game, with more to be added later through downloadable content. Twelve characters for each side of the roster, looking something like this:

    Heroes
    Captain America
    Iron Man
    Spider-Man
    Thor
    Black Panther
    Wolverine
    Black Widow
    Jean Grey
    Storm
    Scarlet Witch
    Captain Marvel
    Gamora

    Villains
    Thanos
    Magneto
    Venom
    Killmonger
    Winter Soldier
    Doctor Doom
    Mystique
    Enchantress
    Nebula
    Black Cat
    Moonstone
    Elektra

The DLC season passes would include six characters each, three heroes and three villains.

    Season 1
    Human Torch
    America Chavez
    Hulk
    Loki
    Sabretooth
    Selene

    Season 2
    She-Hulk
    Daredevil
    Ms Marvel
    Green Goblin
    Lady Deathstrike
    MODOK

Also, you would be able to update your characters gear in order to change their appearances and augment their abilities, as well as use 'premium' skins in order to change one character into another, similar character that would play identically. For instance if you wanted Black Widow to be Yelena Belova or Venom to be Carnage, there would be a skin that changes the characters in the game into those characters, much like Injustice has their own versions of it.

What ideas do you guys have?
"We come into this world alone and we leave the same way. The time we spent in between - time spent alive, sharing, learning together... is all that makes life worth living." - Jean Grey

An Iron Man action game in the style of Devil May Cry where Style and Breaker switching is replaced by different armor types. A ton of weapons and suit looks, some big areas to fly around and explore, unlockable playable characters like Pepper, Rhodey and Riri, a blaring electronic and rock soundtrack, and a variety of redesigned and supercharged villains as bosses. Arno is the Vergil and main antagonist. Other Avengers like Steve, Carol, Thor, and the Hulk? Secret superbosses. Potentially the greatest game of all time. Potentially.

An open-world/beat-em-up in the style of Sega's Yakuza games about the Defenders. You can play as Luke, Danny, Matt, Jones, Misty, Colleen, and Elektra. Crooks and ninjas galore. The game makes itself.

I want a big Final Fantasy-style turn-based RPG for every Marvel franchise, which the Squeenix Avengers won't be. But I hope it'll still be good. If it ever comes out.
I don't blind date I make the direct market vibrate

    Thor as an Action RPG.

I would imagine the plot being a fusion of War of the Realms and the Lost Gods. The gameplay would be a fusion of God of War IV and Monster Hunter.

Donald Blake would find Mjolnir and become Thor. Mysterious creatures and portals keep on popping up in New York, and Thor has to seal them.

The party would consist of the Warriors Three and Sif. In this universe, all of the gods have to possess a human in order to materialize on Earth.

Doctor Doom with the open world of Latveria to explore. It would be about Doom taking the throne.

The game would function similarly to modern Assassins Creed but with Doom's armor which is customizable to provide Hulk sized options or low-key stealth suits. The suits would reflect Victor's morality and would function in tune with a notoriety feature. If you have a Hulk sized suit, expect more combat. And that leads into how he develops, if you play as a brawler Victor will develop skills and magic as a brawler. There should be no wrong answer to how Victor develops as a fighter. Equipment and weapons would start fairly crude but can be taken from enemies or the tools broken down for Victor to use in his own inventions. Basically going from rags to Jack Kirby style technology.

I think the biggest bang for your book would be a marvel MMO, similar to DCU Online or City of Heroes.

Give people the ability to create their own heroes rather than using existing ones, and have them go througt adventures leveling up in the process.

While marvel has had a stream of MMO come and go, the DCUO game has been around forever. Not sure why marvel could't replicate their sucess.

A story with stories from various characters: Phoenix, Moon Knight, Deadpool, Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Men, Ghost Spider, Scarlet Spiders, Namor, Black Panther, Elektra, Punisher, Guardians, Avengers, X-Men, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor, Nova, Conan, Venom, Fantastic Four, Luke Cage & Jessica Jones, Hulk, Star Brand etc..
There would be a good amount of playable characters with DLC expanding stories with new characters getting introduced
You can either have a team or not, some characters would make the stories easier and others would make it harder
Open World: Atlantis, 10 Realms, New York, Stark Tower, Avengers Mountain, Dark Dimension, X-Men Mansion, Limbo, Knowhere, Hel, etc...

An Annihilation open space game with literally all of space to explore and battle in. I would mix in storylines and characters from Annihilation, the Annihilators, War of Realms, the Thanos Imperative, and a few other cosmic events I'm forgetting...but definitely have to call it Annihilation!

Heroes Players can use: Nova Prime (Richard Rider), Quasar (Wendell Vaughn), Silver Surfer, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Firelord, Beta Ray Bill, Super-Skrull, Moon Dragon, Spaceknight Ikon, and Gladiator.

Villains to fight would be armies of Skrulls, Dire Wraiths, Phalanx, and Kree. Individual combatants could include Blastaar, Doctor Dredd, Terrax, Ronan, Nebula, and Annihilus. Big bosses to overcome would of course include Thanos and Galactus.

Didn't put too much thought into this, but I think it could be a blockbuster for sure!

I'd buy a Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane inspired dating simulator.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

    Immortal X-Men - Once & Future- X-Cellent - X-Men: Red

Winter Soldier game in the vein of Splinter Cell with Bucky being the Man on the Wall. Similar to Blacklist where you can go stealthy, silent killer, or go in loud.

The old Hulk: Ultimate Destruction game was a pretty good chassis. I'd expand on that and set it in Sakaar following the Planet Hulk storyline.

I'd also like to see a fighting game that focused more on the heavy hitters, and powerhouses. I'm thinking city spanning fights in destructible environments that sort of thing.

My game would be a DMC character action game with Phoenix Wright court solving starring She-Hulk. Titania and Absorbing Man have been trying to go straight but they have been framed for a crime they didn't commit. They suspect its one of their former criminal employer but with so many suspects they hire She-Hulk and Hellcat to crack the case.
Jen's various stages of transformations would serve to replace Dante's styles.
    80's look - Trickster
00's look - Fisticuffs replacing Swordsmaster
early 10's look- Gunslinger via thunderclaps/ground waves/grab and throw
Current look - Brawler - Royal Guard and Nero's Devil Buster.
Fights would include beating up baddies on the way to court, occasional assists from her former superhero teammates, and a variety of boss fights to test all your styles skills. As you progress through the game you will unlock skills and passive effects to use as you please to customize your play-through through regular gameplay, finding hidden stuff, and answering Marvel Trivia at certain terminals.

Taskmaster and Black Ant would be the two primary playable characters. and you'd run around Marvel New York capturing animal-themed villains.

An open-world game in the style of Spider-Man on PS4, except starring Gambit. It would be set in New Orleans and the surrounding area. There would be both hero missions and thief missions for you to undertake, and the choices you make during the story would affect the final outcome and how the people in the game world view mutants as a whole. Available for PS4, XB1, Switch, and PC.

    1. Black Panther: Open-world somewhat like Spider-Man PS4 so you can explore Wakanda to the fullest, but you can fast travel to different locations on a more global map like Latveria, Atlantis, Attilan, Oakland CA or New York, South Korea, and other African countries. As well as being a beat-em-up actioner it'll have other mechanics that involve stealth, scientific research and exploration, infiltration, and real-time strategy for war-like situations that have different effects and outcome on the story and gameplay. Combat mechanics reminiscent of the Arkham series and Spider-Man where you can chain different combos, perform finishers, and can equip additional weapons like energy daggers and other gadgets. You can travel through locations using parkour and acrobatics, a remote-controlled hacked car, using the Sky-Cycle, or the Royal Talon (for fast travel). Since you've got a Vibranium suit regular bullets won't hurt you and regular goons won't use them anyway, so you fight guys who are really enhanced or use weapons and tech that can damage the suit and get to you (Wakandan, Atlantean, Doom tech or different magics and more). Shuri is tech/mission support, using her as you gear upgrade and you can deploy to fight with the War Dogs (Hatut Zeraze) or Dora Milaje. Story should be largely about politics like something out of GOT with the technological, fantastical and superhero bits splashed in, like different world governments operating in the shadows to remove T'Challa from the throne. You could have Nakia as a DLC playable character with her own missions, and you can also go to the Ancestral Plane/Djalia/Necropolis/whatever to either play as a Black Panther from a previous time or go on a spiritual quest.

    2. Daredevil: Pretty much writes itself. Very reminiscent of the Arkham series with almost near identical mechanics. However you have Matt Murdock missions which involve court cases, some sneaky stealth missions for information gathering, and parts where you have to escape a dangerous situation in the Matt Murdock persona (think the prison/riot scene in the Netflix show). As Daredevil you can see as normally as you can in any other open-world game around you, except farther away from you is noticeably blurry, and there's no HUD or any information. Turning on your radar sense/'World on Fire' opens up the world, turning it more stylised and muted colours with only potential interactive objects, smells, sounds and enemies being highlighted in various signifying colours. You can also 'see' through walls, buildings, the ground and much, much farther away from you. Your HUD and map are activated this way, as well as more typical game information like enemy health and so on. Combat will be like the Arkham games, except you can perform a quick throw of one or both sections of your billy club to hit distant enemies or perform ricochet combos, and switch between hand-to-hand, escrima double staff, nunchaku, and bo staff fighting styles all with their own combos, and you can upgrade stats and gear. You can travel using parkour and using your billy club's grapnel to zip across and swing. Open-world New York or Hell's Kitchen with side missions and all, and you can have an Elektra DLC.

    3. Doctor Strange: I have no idea how to really tackle this one and games with magical characters seem to be a challenge unless they're MMOs, but this is something I'd love to see. Maybe not overthink it too much, and imagine it like the GoW games. You have a default combat system which can be switched from using a magical sword, axe, mystic blasts or mystical martial arts like the MCU movie to quickly dispatch enemies. Your 'powers' will be Strange's classic spells like the Crimson Bands or Images of Ikkon, and you collect and summon different additional artifacts that allow you to do different things. Say your default ones are the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto, and then you can additionally equip other artifacts or relics to perform new feats. You can learn new spells and the spells of defeated minibosses or steal their relics to add to yours. The map would involve visiting several dimensions including good ole New York. You can have guest/unlockable/DLC characters like Scarlet Witch, Voodoo, Ancient One and Clea.

    Torn between a few ideas

Some Tell Tale style adventures focusing on Spider-Man dealing with Hobgoblin and trying to figure out his identity while he unleashes a crime wave.
Or one starring the New X-men, some mutant high school drama with Danger Room training sessions and some attacks on the school.

An open world game like the Spider-Man title on PS4 but focusing on a semi-customizable (maybe just picking between a few different powersets and styles/appearances) rookie hero getting wrapped up in a plot by the Masters of Evil that draws them into teaming up with established heroes. There'd be missions available from various teams and people like the Avengers, Fantastic Four, or someone street level like Daredevil that would lead to different paths for the character and different upgrades and such. DLC would probably be extra post story adventures or side stories. Would also like to see DLC bring extra power set and customization options in.

And a game in the style of Ultimate Alliance/X-men Legends. Something sort of like No Surrender...Mephisto and the Grandmaster playing a big game. Each has their own team of villains and minions trying to pull off some big plots and get their hands on a Cosmic Cube and some other important macguffins. The heroes would largely start out unaware of the larger plot, just stopping things as they pop up before coming together during the story. It wouldn't rely as heavily on 'MCU' cast either. Sure have Cap, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Carol Danvers, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and Thor in there...but also add in groups like the Young Avengers, New Warriors, non-'mainstream' X-men, and a bunch of solo heroes as playable and part of the main story. DLC would come in 5 story packs, each featuring characters not already part of the game in little side stories happening during the main plot or after it like the Champions going to Xandar, Blue Marvel leading an Avengers team, and X-men stuff happening at the school while the main team's away.
