Great observations, Mr. Crisp. A caveat: Dusk is an existing character, so Johns didn't name him, although he did choose him.

If Dusk did represent Batman and Farmer represented Superman, then we have Batman investigating the "killing" of Superman. The zap that put him in a coma could stand in for that. Though I anticipate that Superman will be getting up from that zap very soon, so the current moment of Batman on his feet and Superman laid low seems likely to represent a very short time in the story rather than the major arc.

Minor spoiler post DC #10 – I got the basic solution to the crime correct, but it's a lot more complicated than we saw before this issue. That's not a huge surprise, but it leaves a lot of puzzle pieces to square away. Now it's important to find someone who corresponds to Joyce, at the very least.

Looking forward to seeing how you unpack issue #10. There's a LOT to talk about there

There certainly is a lot to unpack! Dusk, The Adjournment, Dusk's friendship with Manhattan, all the DCU timeline changes, and – oh, yeah - the main plot. This is going to take several readings to begin to work through.

Joyce is described as Dusk's lover. Going with my idea of Dusk as Batman then Joyce would be Catwoman.
The Gypsies had no home. The Doors had no bass.

Does our reality determine our fiction or does our fiction determine our reality?

Whenever the question comes up about who some mysterious person is or who is behind something the answer will always be Frank Stallone.

I think Joyce could represent Laurie/Silk Spectre only because Laurel corresponds with Joyce which means celebrate.
