Hmm, this is the first I've heard about this, not sure how I feel about it though.

It was a great story but I'm not sure how well a movie would work since the big plot twist is already known. That said, I still enjoyed Game of Thrones knowing what was coming more or less for the first 4-5 seasons.

It might just be Disney's take on the Old Republic material. Since the continuity re-do, there's been a few hints about the pre-Skywalker saga Star Wars galaxy and the ancient war between the Jedi and Sith (Mostly in "Rebels" and some stuff in the comic books), but nothing really "canon" yet.
