Apparently the latest issue of Jimmy Olsen spoils the series as to who Leviathan is but does not reveal why. I still hope we get a complete collection of the 80s Ostrander Manhunter series out of this.

The preview is out, and it seems that the reveal may be a little underwhelming for me : https://www.cbr.com/event-leviathan-...ne-revelation/

The first you know who is so obscure, that the whole reveal falls flat to me.

We already know there's a Manhunter connection - I don't think we've seen the full reveal in that preview. Bendis is just dragging it out more.

Has Bendis ever read anything with Damian before?

I don't know why he'd think Talia would say that either.

Or that Damian would ask what he did. ::roll eyes::

I haven't been following up with this...

is it Paul Kirk or Mark Shaw or did they play it far far abreast? Or has it been revealed? Depending on who the reveal is will determine if I back track for this book.
My priority is enjoying and supporting stories of timeless heroism and conflict.
    Everything else is irrelevant.

    spoilers:
    It's Mark Shaw
    end of spoilers

Or at least someone going by that name. As his personality is utterly unlike any previous depictions, it's not a great take.

The whole issue is a mess.

    Whoever Leviathan is
    spoilers:
I'm just glad it's not Damian. That kid's been through enough, this past year or two, without having to be used as a bad plot twist by a guy who doesn't even know how to write him.
    end of spoilers

I’m really disappointed with this event. It started strong to finish flat and boring.

    It was very Bendis.

Characters acting out of character. Characters speaking in the same voice. A somewhat interesting premise with mediocre conclusion.

The revelation of Leviathan's mastermind feels like a massive red herring. He has the right motive, but everything else makes no sense.

Yep. Like I said elsewhere it reminded me of Secret Invasion.

Not quite as bad as the Dark Beast reveal in his Uncanny X-Men. If I just read this issue without having read the rest of the story, I would think it was a good enough conclusion to something, and I guess this is another case of super hero comic book writers just do not know how to write a mystery story.

There were some problems though, aside from the listed. The one fight scene in this book is talked over. It did not fit. The reader cannot be listening to someone explain hidden mysteries of the universe to them while trying to watch people kick each other. Similarly, the final conflict boils down to a speech that we have been listening to the whole series.

In the end, there is some promise of an interesting new foe in the DC universe, let's see if anyone does anything entertaining with it.
