Was Captain Atom an energy being within a suit pre-Flashpoint? If so, I'm not sure what Swampy can do to him. Especially if this fight is in the Arena.
We are the Dora Milaje. We are the daughters of the 18 tribes of Wakanda. We are the teeth of the Panther God. Out of 10,000 years of sweat and bloodshed and battle are we born. We are the women of this ancient land. Deadliest of the species. And our time has come!

Pre Flashpoint? I dont believe so. Still the ultra durable dilustel skin.

In several animation movies and shows, he's shown to be energy before flashpoint. In the Cartoon JLU he is shown to be energy. In the animated movie, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, he's also shown to be energy.

Ah. Thought we were talking comic versions.

He's been an energy being on every incarnation I've read. Contained in a suit, tends to go boom when it is damaged.

We are talking about comic versions as the OP said pre-flashpoint.

Common misconception. It's not a suit. It's dilusteel skin. It goes "boom" because it's a conduit to the Quantum Field.

There is no "overkill". There is only "open fire" and "I need to reload.".

I like to think the 90s was the time when comics hit puberty. They’d grown out of being endearing but hadn’t yet figured out where to channel their emotions to not be utterly whiny cocks. -Beadle
